Meghan and Harry make emotional statement about coronavirus

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have broken their silence on the coronavirus outbreak. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have been quarantined in Canada (open in new tab) where they have lived for nearly six months, posted a statement on Instagram explaining how they plan to use their platform to help with relief during the pandemic.

"We often talk about compassion. All of our lives are affected by it in some way, and it connects each of us globally." How we approach each other and our communities with empathy and kindness is now undeniably important. Over the coming weeks, these are our guiding principles. From posting accurate information and facts from trusted experts, to learning about measures we can take to keep ourselves and our families healthy, to working with organizations that support our spiritual and emotional well-being, we will share information and resources to help us all navigate through uncertain times."

These are uncertain times. And now more than ever we need each other. We need each other for truth, for support, and to not feel alone in these times that can honestly feel quite scary. There are many people around the world who need our support right now. They are working tirelessly behind the scenes, on the front lines, and at home to respond to this crisis, and I am in awe of the willingness of our people to step forward in the face of what we are all experiencing at COVID-19. This moment is a true testament to the human spirit. We often speak of the word "compassion." All of our lives are affected by it in one way or another, and it binds each of us together globally. How we approach each other and our communities with empathy and kindness is now undeniably important. Over the next few weeks, this will be our guiding principle. From posting accurate information and facts from trusted experts, to learning about measures we can take to keep ourselves and our families healthy, to working with organizations that support our spiritual and emotional well-being, we will share information and resources to help us all navigate through the uncertainty. In addition, we will focus on the inspiring stories of how so many of you around the world are connecting in ways large and small to keep us all upbeat. We are all in this together, and as a global community, we can support each other through this process and build a digital neighborhood that feels safe for each of us. I look forward to sharing more over the coming days and weeks.
