All of The Weeknd's new songs are about Bella Hadid's breakup with Selena Gomez

The Weeknd's "After Hours" was released Thursday night, giving fans a very personal look into the singer's psyche and thoughts on love. And while many of the songs seem to be about The Weeknd's supposed ex-partner Bella Hadid, who has been on and off since April 2015, "Save Your Tears" touches on the impact Hadid and his second ex, Selena Gomez, had on him.

"Save Your Tears" expresses The Weeknd's admiration for Hadid after she walked out on him and his regret for having broken her heart. The elopement was probably reported in the tabloids last summer (open in new tab): the two stars ran into each other at Catch One nightclub after their August 2019 breakup. Hadid reportedly left minutes after The Weeknd arrived.

The Weeknd said that Hadid refuses to pay attention to The Weeknd, probably because he hurt her like another ex-lover (possibly Gomez) did to him, who sang extensively on his last EP, My Dear Melancholy (opens in new tab) He admits it. ("I broke your heart like someone did to me / And now you won't love me a second time.")

This is not the only song on The Weeknd's new album about his intense relationship with Hadid; in "Scared to Live (opens in new tab)," the singer wishes Hadid well and prays for the model to learn to live and love again.
