During a coronavirus pandemic (opens in new tab), people around the world are advised to stay home, maintain social distance, and self-isolate when necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (opens in new tab). As a result, people with mental illness will face challenges during the pandemic, especially as they find themselves alone more often than usual and without their usual support systems.
Public Health England released new guidelines, and Kate Middleton (opens in new tab) and Prince William encouraged people to seek support when they need it. In an Instagram post from the Kensington royal family, "Self-isolation and social distance can pose significant challenges to our mental health." The post explains, "The Duke and Duchess of Kensington are not the only ones who have been affected by this." . According to Kensington Royal, "Today, Public Health England published new guidance to help people during the COVID-19 epidemic and updated its world-leading Every Mind Matters platform to maintain good mental wellbeing during the epidemic provided specific advice on how to do so."
The post was accompanied by a personal message from the Duke and Duchess, who wrote, "It is great to see the mental health sector working with the NHS to help people maintain good mental health."
The Cambridges continued, " By joining forces and taking simple steps every day, we can all be better prepared for the times ahead."
