Read MoreThe Instagram era is over for the Sussex couple. On Monday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their final Instagram post to their @SussexRoyal account, marking a symbolic transition into their new lives now that they have settled into their new home in Los Angeles. (Open in new tab)
"As we all find our roles to play in this global shift and change of habits, we are focusing on this new chapter to understand how best to contribute," the couple wrote. 'You may not see us here, but the work continues. (3]
According to royal reporter Omid Scobie (open in new tab), this will be the last time the couple will post under the @SussexRoyal handle, and SussexRoyal.com will also end; starting April 1, the couple will leave their senior positions in the royal family and begin new lives.
Following the shocking announcement in January (open in new tab) that the couple would be stepping down from senior royalty, the couple has been forced to make many changes. The two will now devote themselves to their own non-profit organization (not called Sussex Royal) (open in new tab). One goal is for Harry's sustainable tourism venture Travalyst (open in new tab) to be recognized as a nonprofit organization in the UK
. According to Scobie, there are no other royal communications members representing the couple or their upcoming engagement. (opens in new tab)
The most interesting (at least to me) development in all of this is that Harry and Meghan will retain their royal titles but not use them. According to a Sussex spokesperson (opens in new tab), fans of the royal couple should expect the family to be very low-key over the next few months, and the public will hear nothing from them for several months.
It's very bittersweet, but at least we have Markle's narration (opens in new tab) in Disney's new documentary "Elephant" to look forward to!
