New York is currently the state with the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country. It is also the home of Lively and Reynolds: they have an apartment in New York City (opens in new tab) and a house in Bedford (opens in new tab) in the northern part of the city.
According to E! magazine, the couple personally donated $100,000 each to the four hardest-hit hospitals, including Elmhurst, New York University Hospital, Mount Sinai, and Northern Westchester; E! magazine reported, "The couple has been working with their community, local hospitals and health care workers across the United States to help them during this time."
Two weeks ago, Lively and Reynolds asked their followers to donate to coronavirus relief organizations when they announced their first $1 million donation.
"Covid-19 has a brutal impact on the elderly and low-income populations," Lively explained in an Instagram post.
"Ryan and I are donating $1 million to be split between @feedingamerica and @foodbankscanada. If you can donate, these organizations need our help."[8She emphasized the importance of isolation during this time, but staying digitally connected: "We have to keep our distance to protect those who don't have the opportunity to isolate themselves, but we can stay connected. Don't forget about those who are lonely and isolated: "Let's make FaceTime, Skype, video. Remember that even in these situations, love can be communicated. Shop for the elderly, make lunch for the children. Even if it is simply staying home. ❤️"
She took the opportunity to be a little level-headed and send a message to Reynolds: "Sending lots of love. Now can someone please tell Ryan that there can be no 'emotional distance' from his mother-in-law. ☺️"
