Reviews Arrive for Disney's "Elephant," Starring Meghan Markle

Last month, Disney Nature released the trailer for "Elephant" and also revealed that Meghan Markle will narrate the film. The documentary will premiere on Disney + on April 3, but in the meantime, critics have already had a chance to review the film. Critics have rated the film...

"mixed reviews.

Deadline (opens in new tab):

And the film's narrator, Meghan Markle (actually spelled Meghan, Duchess of Sussex), is an ideal guide, telling the story as if she were reading a storybook, yet keeping all viewers on on the edge of their seat for this journey.

Variety (open in new tab):

"Meghan Markle says, 'Shani has already lost sight of Jomo. Shani has already lost sight of Jomo. [Jomo twirls his trunk underwater like a helicopter blade.

The Times (opens in new tab):

"The departing duchess tells Disney's tale of a herd of elephants crossing the Kalahari Desert from the Okavango Delta to the Zambezi River, and the boy lays it on thick. The silky tone that Princess Meghan used in the "Suits" series, often hushed during her full-time royal years, is now at her disposal: ...... For those raised on Attenborough's urban authority, ...... everything seems a bit shallow."

The Guardian (open in new tab):

"... Schmaltz's epic torrent. [Princess Meghan, like an anthropomorphic duck jumping into the water, is as lickable as Disney's narration: ...... But over and over again, Princess Meghan is told something outrageously unverifiable: Gaia remembers these birds leading her mother to the water's edge......" . And Shani later wrote, "...... reflecting on all the lessons she learned from Gaia.

The Telegraph (opens in new tab):

"But instead of the husky, reassuring Attenborough baritone, Meghan Markle, or Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, since announcing her retirement from Prince Harry and royal duties in January In a way, she is credited here in her first on-screen role. (Her narration was recorded in London late last year, and Disney+ made a donation to the charity Elephants Without Borders.)... Meghan turns out to be an excellent match for the tone of the film, which oscillates between regal and cute amidst the occasional outpouring of girl power.

As far as I can tell, Rotten Tomatoes (open in new tab) does not yet have a score for the film at this time, and there may be more reviews in the next day or so.

Frankly, I don't care what the reviews say. I still fully intend to see it.
