Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal departure (open in new tab) had a major impact on everyone at The Firm, including Kate Middleton (open in new tab).

According to sources close to the Duchess of Cambridge (open in new tab), the impact was best in Kate's case.

"One person who knows Kate well said, 'The mood has clearly improved since the Sussexes left,'" a royal source told The Sun (opens in new tab). 'Kate doesn't feel she has to compete now. She is going back to a simpler style. Kate feels very relaxed now."

Apparently, Kate felt the pressure that would naturally arise from people constantly comparing Kate to her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle (open in new tab).

"There was definitely a time two years ago when she seemed a little frightened of Meghan," the source added." She was afraid that the two would be compared, and there was a time when Meghan seemed more glamorous and popular."

And if this unnamed royal official is to be believed, it seems that Kate's style is not the only thing to be revamped after the Sussexes' departure from the royal family (opens in new tab).

Arabella Preston, Kate's makeup artist, is now reportedly "wearing less eye makeup, lighter lip color, and using less obvious shades of high-street nail polish. She wears much less makeup and is happier, more relaxed, and wears high-street clothes"

The best part of it, of course, is that Kate is happy and relaxed. Everyone deserves that.
