Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decline offer to name Australian bushfire plane after Archie

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to be taking a stand to keep their 11-month-old son Archie out of the public eye. The couple recently turned down a request from the New South Wales government to name an Australian plane used during the bushfires after their son. According to Australia's (opens in new tab)Sunday Telegraph (opens in new tab), Megan and Harry expressed much gratitude for the "kind offer," but explained that their son "has not yet made a public appearance."

The decision to suggest naming the plane after Archie was likely in light of Markle's announcement of her son's pregnancy when the couple toured Australia in 2018. However, it is probably true that an 11-month-old baby does not need too many commitments other than playmates and nap time.

It is not certain when they plan to launch their newest philanthropic endeavor, but it seems clear that there is a lot of work ahead for them.
