The Queen's bath is always exactly 7 inches deep - yes, someone is measuring to be sure!

In today's roundup of weird but true things about the royal family (opens in new tab), here's a fun fact about Queen Elizabeth's (opens in new tab) morning bathing time: the Queen (opens in new tab) only takes a seven-inch bath.

On a serious note, Daily Mail (opens in new tab) royal correspondent Brian Hoey reports that the queen gets up at 7:30 a.m. every day, and her maid turns on the radio first so the queen can get up while listening to BBC Radio 4's Today program.

While the Queen enjoys her morning tea (opens in new tab), the maid begins preparing the bath that the Queen takes at 8 a.m. daily. It has its own rules for depth as well as temperature.

"Her maid enters the adjoining bathroom and draws a bath, the temperature of which is tested with a thermometer in a wooden case, and the depth of the water must be no more than 7 inches.

And while the queen (opens in new tab) is enjoying a bath that is neither too hot nor too cold and exactly 7 inches deep, what the royal staff (opens in new tab) is doing is arranging the first clothes of the day. Under the watchful eye of Angela Kelly, the queen's personal assistant and wardrobe curator, of course.

This reinforces a fact we already knew.
