Idris Elba to perform at "One World" concert 33 days after COVID-19 diagnosis

The One World: This virtual concert was indeed a riot of stars singing, performing, joking, and sharing touching stories of everyday heroism in the face of a coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. One of the most memorable moments came when actor and DJ Idris Elba (opens in new tab) and his wife Sabrina Doule came from their home to honor Italica Grondona, a 102-year-old Italian woman who survived both the Spanish flu and coronavirus (opens in new tab) in 1918 That's when she appeared on stage. The star was much loved by her fans, and her appearance was endearing.

On March 16, Idris Elba shared (open in new tab) that he had been diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19). He reassured his fans that he was not hospitalized, but explained that he was "currently symptom free, but has been quarantined since we learned that he may have been exposed to the virus." Soon after, it was revealed that his wife had also been exposed to the virus (opens in new tab). He is not the only celebrity or politician to have contracted the disease: Tom Hanks (open in new tab) and Prime Minister Boris Johnson (open in new tab) were also COVID-19 positive. Tom Hanks (tab will open) and Prime Minister Boris Johnson (tab will open) also tested positive for COVID-19.

The latest we heard about Elba and Dowdall was that they had completed quarantine. 'We are past the quarantine period, but we are a little stuck. We can't get a flight home. ...... So we have to sit tight for a bit. Other than that, we're fine and really grateful. I think the worst is probably past."

ICYMI, One World: Together at Home was a global benefit concert to support those in need and those working to find a cure during COVID-19. Given that Elba is a great DJ in addition to being an award-winning actor, it made sense for him to perform. And while he didn't talk about his own health, the Twitterati quickly noticed how wonderfully healthy the couple looked (to look good).
