View a very informative PSA on hand washing by Blue Ivy

Blue Ivy Carter is a full eight years old, and it is clear that she is already very wise about the world. Like many other children her age, she is growing up in the midst of a global pandemic. Because of this, she probably knows much more about how germs work than we did when we were her age. In this video, Blue, a home scientist, demonstrates how germs are fought off by soap. I watched this video several times this morning and it is truly an effective video.

The video only shows Blue's hands, but since this is a hand washing PSA, her hands are kind of the star of the show.

"Since you're all home, let's do a little DIY experiment that you can do at home," she begins. 'So washing your hands is important. I have a mixture of different kinds of soap in here. This is not coronavirus or any kind of virus, it's actually just pepper. Try putting your finger in the soap. When you put your finger in it, the virus goes out. That's why it's so important to wash your hands. Washing your hands will keep your hands clean, but if you leave your hands dirty, you might get sick," she finished and signed, "Peace out."

If you listen carefully, you can hear one of Blue's twin siblings making some noise behind you. As a twin sibling, let me tell you, this will help her a lot with her future focus.

Blue wasn't the only one who made a public appearance via video this weekend. Her mother, Beyonce, delivered a very important message (opens in new tab) Saturday night at the One World: Together at Home (opens in new tab) concert.

"Black Americans disproportionately belong to a significant portion of the workforce that cannot afford to work at home. And the entire African American community is severely affected by this crisis." Those with pre-existing conditions are even more at risk. This virus is killing blacks at an alarmingly high rate here in the United States. According to a recent report from my hometown of Houston, Texas, 57% of the COVID-19 deaths in the city of Houston were African American. Please, please protect yourselves. We are one family and we need you. This entire world needs your voices, your abilities, and your strength."
