Ariana Grande's Dream of Playing Meg in Live-Action "Hercules" May Come True

As you know, Ariana Grande is a big fan of the Disney film Hercules. Earlier this month, she even performed Megala's "I Won't Say I'm In Love" with harmonies on ABC's "Disney Family Sing-Along" (opens in new tab). That performance was amazing, so let's take a moment and look at it again:

Susan Egan, who played Meg in the Disney movie, said Grande's performance "couldn't have been more perfect":

Why are we even discussing this? ? Well, as you may know, a very large segment of the Internet is very invested in Grande playing Meg in the live-action remake of Hercules, and it seems safe to assume that Grande is also firmly on board. And on Thursday, April 30, Variety magazine confirmed (open in new tab) that a live-action remake produced by Joe and Anthony Russo (of "The Avengers" fame) is in the works. Ali, who has played Cat Valentine for years, has already proven that he can pull off the redhead. So... Is it really too much of a stretch to think that she is a contender to play Meg?

One Disney alum has already expressed his support for the casting the Net wants: Josh Gad, who played Olaf in "Anna and the Snow Queen" and LeFou in "Beauty and the Beast." According to Variety, Gad said (open in new tab), "... She would be great as Meg. (He ruled himself out of contention for the role of Philoctetes, played by Danny DeVito in the original film, saying, "I feel like I'm good, I've definitely had and continue to have incredible projects at the Disney company, but no one wants to see me take on yet another live-action remake of an animated film. I don't think anyone wants to see me take on yet another role in a live-action remake of an animated film.")

Disney, listen up: Gad is on board. The rest of the Internet agrees. We all need cheering up in these very dark times. Why not give the role to Ariana?
