Friends of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry "even closer" after difficult year

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (opens in new tab) have battled quite a few challenges over the past year, from relentless media bullying (and subsequent lawsuits against several British tabloids) to their decision to step down as royal overlords. According to close friends of the Sussexes, they have not weathered the storm, but rather, their many trials have brought them closer together.

Speaking to "Entertainment Tonight," royal correspondent Katie Nicole said they are "still very much in love" (opens in new tab) and that "a lot has happened for Meghan and Harry, but all the experiences of 2019 and 2020 challenges, and obstacles have really brought them even closer together, I'm told by a source very close to them," she added.

The royal source also confided that Meghan and Harry are taking time to slow down and "reflect" after a turbulent year. 'One thing I've heard from friends of the couple is that they're actually enjoying a slightly slower pace,' Nicole said. 'They are busy and do a lot behind the scenes, but this couple tends to go 100 miles an hour. I think they enjoy the confinement and the fact that they get to let off a little steam."

"They have always been a great team and partnership. "I think looking back on what has obviously been a difficult and trying year, their commitment to each other and their love for each other has not diminished. They have come together as a couple and I don't think we should forget that."
