Read MoreKensington Palace issued a statement late last night in a highly unusual move in response to a Tatler magazine (opens in new tab) cover story (opens in new tab) about Kate Middleton. A Palace spokesman said: "This article contains a number of inaccuracies and misrepresentations that were not reported to Kensington Palace prior to publication. The Palace did not specify what the inaccuracies and misrepresentations were. Several royal sources told the Daily Mail (opens in new tab) that Tatler's claim that the Duchess of Cambridge is "furious" about her increased workload after Meghan and Prince Harry decided to step down from the royal family is not true.
A Tatler spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight (opens in new tab) that the Palace was aware of the story. Tatler editor-in-chief Richard Dennen stands by the reporting of Anna Pasternak and her sources. Kensington Palace knew we were going to run a cover story on "Catherine the Great" months ago and we asked them to help us. Their denial that they did not know is totally false."
Tatler's feature on the Duchess made many bold claims. The magazine's reporters spoke to courtiers, staff, friends, and socialites. Those sources took aim at Princess Meghan, claiming that the Duchess of Cambridge was not happy with the way the end of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's role as royal family had changed her life.
The "litany of inaccurate and false misinformation" probably refers to this:
"Then there was an incident at the wedding rehearsal," the source said. 'It was a hot day and apparently there was a dispute over whether the bridesmaids should wear tights. Kate thought they should follow protocol and wear tights. Megan did not want them to."
"William is absolutely glowing about Meggitt," the source said. 'Every time the Sussexes make a statement, it hits everyone like a new bomb. The Cambridges are just as upset as everyone else. Everyone is terribly worried about how this will affect the Queen."
[12"Meghan and Harry were very selfish. William and Catherine wanted to be productive parents, but the Sussexes effectively threw all three of their children under the bus. The responsibility placed on them was enormous, and they could not even get to school in the morning."
[16"Kate is furious about the increased workload. Of course she smiles and dresses appropriately, but she doesn't want this. She feels exhausted and trapped. She works as hard as a top CEO who has to be constantly taken out of the office without the benefit of boundaries and plenty of time off."
