Tyler Cameron and Matt James are friendship goals.

Tyler Cameron and Matt James are friendship goals.

In a surprise announcement on Friday's Good Morning America, the Bachelor franchise announced its next suitor: Matt James. (Opens in new tab) James will be the first ever black male lead (opens in new tab) in the show's 18-year history. When he's not posting thirst traps on Instagram, you can find him on ABC Food Tours (opens in new tab). He leads a nonprofit organization called "The Food and Health Initiative," which teaches children about the importance of physical and mental health through food and wellness activities.

James was supposed to be a contestant on Claire Crowley's season (opens in new tab), but that ship has sailed as filming is set to begin in July. There was some wrangling between the two over the app "Cameo" (see exactly what happened here (opens in new tab)), but don't worry - James got through it with the help of friends like the legendary man, myth, and Tyler C. from Jupiter, Florida (opens in new tab). *During the quarantine, James enjoyed content on TikTok with Cameron and Hannah Brown of the Bachelorette (opens in new tab) with the username @TheQuarantineCrew (opens in new tab). We were bored, they were bored, and that became the whole thing. But how long has this bromance between Cameron and James been going on?

They were on the Wake Forest University football team together. Yes, before they were roommates (which I will explain later), they were teammates! Nothing brings two people closer than a bond of sweat.

Pictures of their teammates together have yet to circulate, but check back later, as the Internet works in mysterious ways.

There you have it! Last we checked, the two friends were roommates in New York City together. From the looks of this Instagram slideshow, it's a pretty nice room; back in September on the podcast Bachelor Party (opens in a new tab), Cameron spilled the beans on why she'd rather live with James than live alone.

"He's my guy; I was thinking about getting a one-bedroom, but I think it's important to surround yourself with people who are doing nice things. I've been living on his couch for a while and he's not sick of me."

Apparently, they've always been like brother and brother, and my heart is about to burst with cuteness (I haven't seen any men other than my brother in the past few weeks, so my bar for men is pretty low).

"That's how it was with me in college too. He was a cool older kid and took me under his wing," he explained. 'We were boys ever since. I'm so grateful for that friendship and what he showed me in this city."

The former Bachelorette star has said in multiple interviews that he hopes James will become a bachelor.

"People need to apply Matt James to 'The Bachelorette. Maybe he'll skip it and go to 'The Bachelor,'" Tyler said in 2019 on former Bachelor Nick Viall's podcast, The Viall Files (opens in new tab)." My goal is to get him on the show. He needs to be persuasive, so if we all go after him and convince him to go, he'll be a great guy for the show."

In other words, Cameron seems to have manifested James' density! Now we just have to wait until 2021 (open in new tab) to see how it unfolds.
