Beyoncé released the song on Juneteenth (opens in new tab) and wrote on Instagram, "Happy Juneteenth Weekend! I hope we continue to share our joy and celebrate each other in the midst of hardship. Please continue to remember our beauty, strength, and power, and BLACK PARADE will celebrate you, your voice, and your joy for Black-owned small businesses."

According to Beyonce's website (opens in new tab), "BLACK PARADE" will benefit BeyGOOD's Black Business Impact Fund. On her website, she shares a directory of black-owned businesses (created and supervised by both @ZerinaAkers (opens in new tab) と@black.owned.everything (opens in new tab)) and says, "Happy Juneteenth. Being black is your activism. Black excellence is a form of protest. Black joy is your right."
