Drake first posted a photo of his son in March, sharing a series of family photos (featuring his parents, Dennis and Sandy Graham, and Brousseau) with a long, heartfelt message about staying connected during the coronavirus pandemic. He said, "I love and miss my beautiful family and friends. I look forward to the joyous day when we will all be reunited," he wrote.

As reported by Harper's Bazaar, Drake explained why he decided to publish Adonis' photo in a May interview with Lil Wayne on Young Money Radio (opens in new tab). 'I posted that picture. It was a great thing for me to post that picture. I didn't consult with anyone, I didn't plan it. I just woke up one morning and thought, 'This is what I want to do. [I want to] go places with my son and share memories. I don't want to feel like I have to make everyone live under this blanket just because I made a life choice to be a 'celebrity,'" he continued. I wanted to be free from that."
