Prince William reveals an adorable nickname given to him by Princess Diana.

There is a sweet royal anecdote: Prince William's late mother, Princess Diana (opens in new tab), gave Prince William a nickname when he was a child. As the Daily Express (opens in new tab) reports, William revealed the nickname in a 2007 interview with NBC. So did Diana call her son "Wombat?"

"When we went to Australia with my parents, the wombat, see, it's a local animal, so I basically just got called that, not because I look like a wombat. 'Now I'll never forget that. It started when I was two years old.'

"It's hilarious.

In the BBC documentary "Football, Prince William and our Mental Health," which aired in May, William talked about the trauma of losing his mother (opens in new tab) when he was a child, and how after becoming a father he re-lived those feelings. He talked about what he remembered. When former soccer player Marvin Sodell shared his own experience of becoming a parent after growing up without a father, William said, "When I experienced something traumatic in my life ...... when my mother died when I was young, I think those feelings come back in leaps and bounds"

"Having a child is the greatest life-changing moment. It's one of the most wonderful moments of your life, but it's also one of the most terrifying."
