Ashley Graham gets serious about self-care

Welcome to Beauty Around the Clock, Marie Claire's weekly peek into the daily lives of the most influential women in their industries. How do these women manage to get their day's work done? [Graham, now 33 (open in new tab), is not your typical model. With countless magazine covers, runway shows, and beauty campaigns (including ambassadorships with Revlon (open in new tab) and the newly announced St. Tropez (open in new tab)), she is a tireless advocate of body positivity messages (open in new tab) and resilience. She also brings her tireless body-positivity message (open in new tab) and resilience to her work as a writer (open in new tab) and TV/podcast host (open in new tab). Here's a peek into her life as a newbie (mom).

These days, I get up between 5:45 and 6:45. I wake Isaac up, feed him in bed, and give him his morning snuggle. This lasts for an hour.

I wash my face, put on a bit of St. Tropez's Purity Vitamins serum with vitamins C and D (opens in new tab), then immediately apply a moisturizer I also like Dermophisiologique (opens in new tab) sunscreen. It's great for the face and you can apply it really thin. Then, depending on the condition of my hair and how sweaty it is, I either spray it with plain water to define the curls or dry shampoo it. I just make it bigger.

I am a breakfast like a champ. I'm still breastfeeding and I feel like my body needs a lot of food. So I have two scrambled eggs with my favorite Base Culture bread (opens in new tab) - it's keto bread even though it's not keto, but it's really good toasted with Miyoko's dairy-free butter (opens in new tab). And freshly squeezed orange juice and a big cup of coffee. My God, I feel like I'm eating all the time. It's like a garbage can.

When I ride the zoom to a meeting, I put on makeup. I wear mascara, I wear lipstick. My go-to is Revlon Nude (opens in new tab) lip liner, with Brazilian Tan lipstick (opens in new tab) on top. when i'm on Zoom, there's only one thing that jumps out at me: my eyes.

I do yoga three or four times a week and work out with trainer Chrissy Jones of Sky Ting (opens in new tab). Yoga is like time to myself, not like a workout.

Self-care is more important now than ever before, not only because of the pandemic, but also because I am a mother. I have really taken to yoga, working out, beauty regimens, acupuncture, and massage. I make time in my calendar for that, even if not as often as I did before the birth. Isaac needs a mom who will take good care of him.

Facials at Mzia Shiman (opens in new tab) are once a month. It's expensive, but it's worth it.

Tracey Ellis Ross. She's sexy and put together.

At night, I shower and do my hair. I wash my hair, part it down the middle, spray it with John Frieda's Dream Curl (open in new tab), and go to bed with wet hair I've been using it since I was 15. I also like to self-tan with mousse at night. I put on St. Tropez Bronze Mousse (opens in a new tab) and do my nighttime look with Isaac. Once that's done, after replying to the last email of the night, I jump back into the shower, rinse off quickly, apply lotion, and go to bed. My beauty regimen starts at night to prepare me for the next day.

Isaac's bedtime is 8:00 PM, followed by dream fertilization at 10:30 PM. So I have to stay awake until then. My bedtime is between 10:45 and 11:30 p.m. I try to sleep for seven hours.
