Pause" Season 3: Everything We Know

"I finished watching 'Pose/Pose' Season 2 in an instant and wanted to watch more" (opens in new tab) Lucky for us, the trailer for the final season has been released! The Golden Globe-nominated FX drama about New York City socialites in the '80s and '90s is one brilliant piece after another, and it's refreshing to see the LGBTQ+ community (opens in new tab) represented on TV, sharing a piece of history with an audience that's never been aware of it. It's refreshing to see it shared. And in case you haven't loved the show enough, "Pose" features the largest cast of LGBTQ+ characters in the history of scripted series. The hit show has catapulted the careers of transgender actors like MJ Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, India Moore, Haley Sahar, and Angelica Ross. And I can never forget the name of a fashion icon I deeply admire: Mr. Billy Porter (opens in new tab).

The countdown has begun. On Tuesday, FX released the trailer for the final season. Although the release date is now confirmed, production on Season 3 was just put in limbo last year due to the pandemic.

"When production was put on hold, I wasn't shocked - I knew it would happen, but it was a bittersweet moment for me," Moore told Variety. (Open in new tab) "On the one hand, if someone had gotten sick, it would have surely spread fast. On the other hand, most of the people involved in the production are living paycheck to paycheck. So I was worried about how they would survive."

According to the FX release, the story takes place several years after the events of season two, during the AIDS crisis of 1994. In the final season of Pose, time flashes forward to 1994. Blanca struggles to balance being a mother, a new love interest, and a nursing assistant. Meanwhile, Pray Tell struggles with an unexpected health burden as AIDS becomes the leading cause of death for Americans ages 25 to 44. Pose features the largest cast of transgender actors as series regulars.

In the trailer, Blanca (MJ Rodriguez) and Pray Tell (Billy Porter) vow to overcome their situation while dealing with the tragic loss and devastation caused by the AIDS crisis. In a powerful speech to convince her friends to return to the ballroom scene, she says I will no longer run from myself, from my destiny. I will run no more. Who will follow me?"

The show may look a little different because it was filmed with the Coronavirus protocol in mind; in an interview with Variety (opens in new tab), co-creator Steven Canals told the magazine that constraints may force him to restructure the scene. told the magazine that constraints may force him to restructure the scene.

"Things like kissing - we'll probably forgo those moments. The biggest impact on our show will be the ballroom scene: there are 125 to 150 background actors in that scene," he told Variety. "There will be 125 to 150 background actors in that scene. We're having a conversation right now about, "Is there a world where we're going to see these things off?" We are having a conversation about that." Janet Mock, producer of [Pose], told Entertainment Weekly (opens in new tab) last August: "I believe we're going to have a new House of Evangelista. I think it's a bold statement to say that Blanca will likely have a new child in Season 3," Mock (opens in new tab) told EW. 'It makes sense - her children are growing up. They will come and go. Family dinners could be bigger. We don't know if Angel and Papi will have children of their own. We don't know what their home life will be like. But I think they will stay tied to each other, even if they go out, buy brand new things, get a new house, and all that good stuff"

Interesting! At least a release date has been confirmed, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens until further notice. Stay tuned, loyal Paws fans!
