The Horses of East Town, Season 2: Everything We Know

On Sunday, "A Nightmare in Easttown" ended with a shocking finale that proved the show will be remembered as one of the most talked about shows of 2021. (Open in new tab) However, with a stellar cast led by Kate Winslet and critical acclaim, not to mention VAPE and Pennsylvania accents, fans are clamoring for a second season. Here is what we know about a possible "East Town Lovers" season 2.

The detective drama's seventh and final episode, titled "Sacrament," revealed that Erin's (Kylie Spaeny) killer was surprisingly 13-year-old Ryan (Cameron Mann). The show also gave a heartbreaking but fitting end to Maire's climb up the ladder to the attic where her son died by suicide.

Since its inception, HBO has designated the show as a limited series. But regardless, Winslet is 100 percent interested in reprising her role as the titular Mare. I miss her. I really miss her," the Oscar winner said in a recent interview with TVLine (opens in new tab)." That's odd. I feel like I'm in mourning. It was a really great role. She continued, " There is something very addictive about Mare. She's so outrageous, lovable, intelligent, and realistic, and I loved playing her."

And Brad Ingelsby, the show's writer and creator, told The Hollywood Reporter (open in new tab) that he is equally said he is interested in doing so.

"If Kate and I can create a story that we're really proud of and that we feel is worthy of a second chapter in Mare's journey, we might do that," Ingelsby told the outlet. 'I honestly don't know what that would be.'

Craig Zobel, director and executive producer of Mare, echoed Winslet and Ingelsby's sentiments to TVLine, saying he was "excited" to see the return of Mare's characters, but was also happy with the show as a miniseries.
