The best/worst times during a season of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette are when contestants from other seasons make surprise guest appearances in an attempt to win the heart of the new lead. And it literally always causes drama. (See: Nick Viall in Caitlin Bristow's season, Heather Martin in Matt James' season, and many others.) In Katie Thurston's season (open in new tab), the moment came in week 4: 29-year-old Blake Moines was back. She vied for the last rose (opens in new tab) of current host Teasia Adam as her season's contestant. Moynes won out over Katie's last four contestants amid controversy over "being there for the right reasons" and "communication between the two" before he joined the show. So what do we know about Moines?

Blake was a contestant on Claire Crawley's (short) season of "The Bachelorette" - you may remember that he also contacted Crawley before filming (open in new tab). After she chose Dale Moss (open in new tab) early on, Moines became part of Adams' cast, where he fell quickly and hard for the new leading lady.

He had strong feelings for both women. After his breakup with Adams, he told Us Weekly: (Open in new tab) "The connection [with Taysha] was very slow. If it had been Taysha from the beginning, I think my story would be a little different." (Of course, Adams is one of Thurston's season hosts, so that's interesting.)

Some in Bachelor Nation are wary of Moines. Nick Viall said on his podcast: "Blake fell in love with Claire and he fell in love with Taysha. So when he says, 'I'm in love with Katie,' it's natural to question it. ' It just raises questions like, 'Are you just intensely in love, bro?'"

Thurston admitted this, telling Us Weekly: "I certainly knew who he was, being Taysha's ex-boyfriend as well. So it's weird. We had chatted before, and usually when the ladies drop out, the guys get in touch and say things like, 'Good luck, you did great.' ' So we'd see him and say, 'Why is he here? What's going on?'" But she was still upset when he showed up, she added. 'It was a shock,' she said. I wasn't expecting it at all."

And Moines said on the Clickbait podcast (opens in new tab): "When I first contacted her after the first episode, her response was very cold. She was nice, but did not open any dialogue. She came out of the limo with a vibrator. I simply reached out to her. It was so wonderful.

Later, Katie said (opens in new tab): "He wasn't very clear about his intentions, so I told him about it. I was like, 'I didn't know you were interested in me.' ' He just tried very casually and didn't make much of an effort. I wasn't interested."

The Moines side has poked fun at the repeated Bachelorette experiences. One fan asked on Instagram about Michelle's season, "How many times has Blake appeared? "I'm waiting for Michelle to reply to my DM first ......," Moines He joked. (Open in new tab) Ashley Iaconetti told Us Weekly: "Honestly, I'm not attracted to any of the guys. Blake is a little vulgar for me. He's not my type. I mean, there's no romance. I like romance, so it's hard for me to connect with that romance. I think that's totally a personal preference. If he's right for Katie, that's great."

Moines is an outdoorsman and dreams of an outdoorswoman. As a wildlife manager, he has his own product line (proceeds support wildlife conservation (opens in new tab)); according to his ABC bio, he supports a different endangered species each year. He adopted a rhino through the nonprofit Care For Wild Rhino Sanctuary (opens in new tab). He is also the father of a cat and a dog (and also has the merchandise (opens in new tab) to prove it).

Thurston is from Renton, Washington, so if Moines wins, someone will have to move or commute 16 hours to get a date. As for Moines' family: his mother, Emily, is a life coach who runs her own company, Rebuild a Kick-Ass Life, and specializes in coaching people to break free from toxic relationships and learn their own self-worth. She and her father separated when Moines was a child, and Moines was raised by her mother along with her siblings, Taylor and Cody.
