Read MoreIf you're like me, you spent most of 2020 and most of 2021 cooped up at home, killing time by binge watching new TV shows (open in new tab) and reviewing old favorites (open in new tab) (I spent three straight months on "Gilmore Girls" I may or may not have been enthralled.) It's almost 2022 (thank goodness), but it looks like my return to society is far from over. So I've compiled a list of the best TV shows coming out in 2021, from those that will make you forget the reality of 2021 ("Dickinson") to those that will remind you of simpler times ("Gossip Girl"), here's your watch list.
If you're still suffering from Bridgerton withdrawal symptoms or are very sad that Rouget-Jean Page won't be back for Season 2, catch up with "Dickinson," a period piece starring Hailee Steinfeld as moody teen Emily Dickinson. It's a feminist tale with a literary twist. The second season is now available on Apple TV+.

A refreshingly un-Marvel-like Marvel show starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany. In it, Scarlet Witch (Olsen) and Vision (Bettany) are a typical suburban couple until they decide to fight crime. (Opens in a new tab) It's the kind of "I Love Lucy" x "The Avengers" crossover you didn't know you needed.

Marvel's hit show is here again today. It's more action-packed than "Wander Vision," but it's no less creative. Each episode follows two characters from the Captain America series, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes (a.k.a. Flacon and Winter Solider), six months after the events of The Avengers: Avengers/Endgame. The film portrays Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes (a.k.a. Flacon and Winter Solider) six months after "Avengers/Endgame."

The show that made an era (and sparked my obsession with plaid skirts and headbands) is about glossy high school students and the informant everywhere who knows all their secrets (now a blog Instead, they use Instagram to post photos and troll the Upper East Cider) are back with a whole new cast. Though it hits a different note than the original, the reboot is worth a look for OG fans and newcomers alike. Also surprising is that Kristen Bell is still voicing GG. xoxo.

Everything looks picturesque at the White Lotus, an exclusive Hawaiian resort. But over the course of six episodes, the audience discovers that the guests and hotel staff are not what they appear to be. This miniseries is an eerie and incisive social satire.

The God of Mischief finally has his own show in this Disney + Original production. The charismatic Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, wins the hearts of viewers in just six episodes and makes them reconsider their "villain hatred." WARNING: Do not watch if time travel is not your thing.

We may have the next "Big Little Lies" on our hands. No, really: this limited series starring Nicole Kidman is based on the book of the same name by Liane Moriarty. In this show, nine "urbanites" head to a boutique health and wellness resort. (opens in new tab) But tranquility may not be the only thing they signed up for.

In 2018, Anna Delvey made headlines when a New York Magazine feature revealed that the party girl heiress was actually a con artist who has been conning the city's elite. If Netflix's Shonda Rhimes, starring Julia Garner, joins the mix (she'll produce), it's the perfect weekend watch.
