The change of seasons has brought chilly weather, new fall coats, and a return to the down-hole tent. The new season of The Great British Baking Show premieres on September 24, and this year's contest (open in new tab) is shaping up to be the best on the show (except for the slightly tiresome opening song). For the next nine weeks, we'll be following 12 new bakers (opens in new tab) as they try to create delicious cakes that will impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and not go dry or get soggy on the bottom.

New episodes of The Great British Baking Show will be available on Netflix U.S. on Friday, three days after it premieres on Channel 4 in the UK. The delayed U.S. release means that fans on this side of the pond will have to avoid Twitter spoilers, but it also means that they will know the week's theme in advance, as the show is released every Tuesday.

Spoilers. Cake Week was the perfect opportunity to showcase this year's bakers of challenging mini roll cakes, old-fashioned sticky treats, and gravity-defying showstopper cakes. Notable bakers emerged, including Star Baker, who created an edible book and table lamp, Giuseppe's fairy-tale "Jack in the Beanstalk," and Freya's Vegan Cake. Unfortunately, since this is still a contest, one baker was sent home, but there are still eleven talented contestants to choose from.
