In Netflix's new drama "Maid," a single mother (opens in new tab) struggles to make a life for herself and her 2-year-old daughter. Based on the memoir "Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive" by Stephanie Rand (opens in new tab), the show follows single mother Alex (Margaret Queally), an abusive girlfriend, until she gets a job cleaning houses to break up with her boyfriend. The show's sympathetic portrayal of poverty, domestic violence, and America's crumbling welfare system is made even more powerful by its all-star cast.

The Maid's story is told by a stellar cast that includes veteran Hollywood actors, familiar actors from other Netflix hits, and even a real-life mother-daughter duo. Below is everything we know about the cast of "The Maid."

Alex is a single mother who has just left an abusive relationship with her two-year-old Maddie. While on the welfare system, she begins cleaning houses for a living. The daughter of actress Andie McDowell and model Paul Qualley, Qualley trained as a ballerina before turning to acting. Previous television credits include the HBO drama The Leftovers, the FX miniseries Fosse/Verdon, and a supporting role in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time.in Hollywood.

Alex's ex-boyfriend and Maddie's father, Nick, works as a bartender and takes Alex to court over custody of Maddie. He is charming, but also alcoholic and violent. Robinson first appeared in major motion pictures in "Jurassic World," "Kings of Summer," and "Everything, Everything." Most recently, he played the titular teen in the film Love, Simon, which he reprised in the Hulu series Love, Victor.

Alex's mother Paula is an artist with undiagnosed bipolar disorder. Because of her fickle and forgetful nature, Alex takes care of her instead of the other way around. McDowell, Quarry's biological mother, worked as a model in the 1980s before appearing in films such as Sex, Lies, and Videotape, St. Elmo's Fire, Groundhog Day, and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Alex's estranged father Hank, a born-again Christian and recovering alcoholic, reunites with his oldest daughter, who left Sean. Burke is best known for his role as Bella Swan's father in "The Twilight Saga. Along with "Maid," he is currently starring in FOX's "9-1-1: Lone Star" as fire chief Billy Tyson.

Regina is Alex's first housecleaning client, a big shot lawyer who lives in a mansion on Fisher Island. She is cold to Alex at first, and even overcharges him for cleaning, but they bond over the course of the series. Rose is a major Hollywood star, Broadway veteran, and Disney princess. She has appeared in The Good Wife, Power, Bates Motel, and Quad, and co-starred with Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson in the film musical Dreamgirls.

Nate is an old friend of Alex's who lends a hand after she breaks up with Nick. A single father and engineer, he has a long-standing crush on the single mother. Canadian actor Ablak got his big break as teen heartthrob Sav Bhandari in "Degrassi: The Next Generation" and has since appeared in "Orphan Black," "Narcos," and "Shadowhunters," and has appeared in Netflix hits "Ginny and Fans of "Georgia" will recognize Ablak as Joe, a restaurateur and Georgia's love interest.

Yolanda is Alex's new boss, the no-nonsense owner of the cleaning business Value Maid. Villar has more than 20 years of experience in television, having previously had recurring roles on "The Steve Harvey Show" and "House," and has appeared on "2 Broke Girls," "Fresh Off the Boat" and "How to Get Away With Murder."

Dennis runs a domestic violence center that helps Alex get back on his feet and obtain various government assistance. A Hollywood veteran, Harrison recently appeared in the Netflix shows A Series of Unfortunate Events and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Danielle, a fellow single mother, helps Alex at the domestic violence center where she stays with her 7-year-old son. Calero is another Disney princess on the show and has voiced Princess Elena, the first Latina Disney princess, on "Elena of Avalor" since 2016. She has also appeared in "Lincoln Heights," "The Americans," and "Young and Hungry" and is the voice of the main character in the animated series "She-Ra and the Princess of Power."
