Season 3 of the hit Netflix thriller "You" (opens in new tab) begins with newlyweds Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) and Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) moving to the wealthy San Francisco suburb of Madre Linda (opens in new tab) The story begins when they arrive. Their neighbor is Theo Engler, a college student whose father is tech tycoon Matthew (Scott Speedman). Theo becomes close to Love and develops feelings for her.

Theo has won fans over as the charming boy-next-door while dealing with his complicated relationship with Love and his father. The teen will be played by Dylan Arnold, an actor who has appeared in both boyfriend roles and horror films. Here is everything we know about this rising star.

Born in February 1994 in Seattle, Washington, the 27-year-old Arnold, according to Teen Vogue (opens in new tab), used to run around the yard playing "Lord of the Rings" as a child. After graduating from a boarding school for the arts in Idyllwild, California, he studied acting at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

Prior to appearing in You, Arnold landed his first high-profile role in the 2017 Netflix film Mudbound, followed by roles in Nashville and The Purge. She also played Noah, Tessa's uptight high school boyfriend, in the film series "After" (open in new tab), loosely based on the popular Harry Styles fan fiction. She also co-starred with Jamie Lee Curtis in the reboot series of the horror film Halloween. The sequel, "Halloween Kills," was released in theaters on the same day as "You" season 3.

In an interview with Teen Vogue, Arnold revealed that he auditioned for the show every season until his third. In season two, he targeted the role of Forty, and also auditioned for the role of Joe. He and Elizabeth Lail, who played Beck in season one, were college classmates.

When asked why he kept auditioning, he replied, "'You' is one of those shows that is so well done, so well executed, so well written, that I feel like it's a great opportunity every time." He continued, " I feel like this show is done great every time, so of course I'd love to be on it."

He added, "I'd love to be on it because it's one of those shows that is so well executed.

Arnold plays a 19-year-old college student who is actually one year older than Victoria Pedretti, who plays Love. He told Teen Vogue that they enjoyed the age difference between the characters, citing the scene in episode 6 where Theo has a boom box playing Lorde's "Supercuts" outside Love's house, which he said he "got from the romance movies of (her) generation."

"I'm glad I got to experience that because it's very symbolic to have a boom box outside your house. In fact, I'm a year older than Victoria [Pedretti], much older than my character, so the moment when she says I'm a teenager was always really funny because I'm older than her. But those scenes were a lot of fun, but also very heartbreaking. We figured out a way to make it fun and charming."
