Read MoreYou'd be forgiven for not remembering everything that happened on Bachelor Nation in 2021. (Opens in new tab) Michelle Young's season on The Bachelorette (opens in new tab) capped off an unforgettable year for the franchise. From the departure of Chris Harrison (opens in new tab) to the racism that engulfed the season starring the franchise's first black Bachelor, Matt James (opens in new tab), it was... There was a lot. But Michelle Young (opens in new tab), a college basketball player-turned-teacher, was one of the best of a turbulent year. Fans are rooting hard for the new Bachelorette to find love... So, if you're here wondering if 'she' Michelle is engaged, or generally craving spoilers, you're in the right place.
First, a recap: Michelle came in second in Matt's season, and later explained that Matt broke up with her on their last one-on-one date and didn't get closure. She told Matt at the After the Final Rose Special earlier this year, "I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do this again.
Michelle, who was announced as one of the two Bachelorettes on the special, filmed the season from July through September of this year (a schedule planned to allow her to return in time for the new semester). Michelle and the last contestants flew to Mexico for the last few days of the schedule.
So let's cut to the chase. Will Michelle find the perfect partner, bad basketball pun intended, and get engaged at the end of her season?
Yes!
Michelle got engaged to Nayte Olkoya.
According to Reality Steve, (opens in new tab) Michelle is leaving the season engaged to Nayte, a 27-year-old sales executive from Austin, Texas. (Michelle lives and works in Minnesota, so there will probably be a cross-country move.) According to Nayte's ABC bio (opens in new tab), "He has a starry smile and is always the life of the party.
When she first met Nate, Michelle was "honestly very attracted" to E! (opens in new tab) "I think the biggest thing was that when we sat down we had a natural conversation."
She also said, "He is a very nice guy.
The love story, perhaps the heart of the season, between Michelle and Nate, "unfolds beautifully," co-host Taysia Adams told E!" It's like a fairy tale, and I think it's always different. Of the immediate rapport between Nayte and Michelle, Teysha said, "There's an unspoken chemistry there, and it was really cool to watch."
As for Michelle's runner-up, according to Reality Steve, it was a guy named Brandon Jones. Here he is:
Social media pundits have been told that Reality Steve was mistaken and that Michelle is actually engaged to another man - Joe Coleman, a fellow college basketball player who lives near Michelle and was seen with her at a basketball game (new (opens in new tab) - speculates that she may be engaged to Nate, but Michelle and Joe only met by chance at a local game, and it seems more likely that Michelle is engaged to Nate.
Also, if you're curious about the many men Michelle sent home before narrowing her choices to Nate and Brandon in Mexico, here's Michelle's male cast guide. (open in new tab)
