Bachelor in Paradise" 2021: Everything We Know

No matter what happens, you can experience firsthand the summer and fall of 2021 as a group of photogenic 20-somethings try to fall in love with a tropical drink in hand. Yes, "Bachelor in Paradise" (opens in new tab) is back. The seventh season premieres Monday, August 16 on ABC and will be hosted by well-known comedians David Spade, Titus Burgess, Lance Bass, and Lil Jon, who will replace Chris Harrison. (If you want to know exactly what happens, check out our guide to Bachelor in Paradise (opens in a new tab) 2021 Spoilers. (opens in new tab))

The series, which boasts A-list superfans like Jennifer Aniston and Daniel Radcliffe, was forced to take a year off in 2020 (opens in new tab) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the powers that be at ABC have scrambled to revive the hampered Bachelor spinoff in time for the summer of 2021, and with the 2021 season expected to have more contestants than any previous Bachelor series, you know what that means. Wells Adams told the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast, "Of the five seasons I've done Paradise, this season is going to be the craziest." I don't think anyone will predict what's going to happen."

Bachelor in Paradise began airing on ABC on August 16, 2021, during the back-to-back seasons of Katie Thurston (opens in new tab) and Michelle Young's (opens in new tab) The Bachelorette. It will then air Mondays and Tuesdays until mid-September, and only on Tuesdays beginning September 13. The season will climax on October 5, 2021, two weeks before the Young season begins.

Four seasons of Bachelor and Bachelorette have aired in the two years since the last group of Bachelor Nation graduates flew to Mexico. The devil works hard, but Bachelor producers work harder.

There is also an unofficial list of people rumored to be joining the above cast in Paradise, according to Reality Steve. These former contestants include:

As with previous Paradise seasons, Bachelor in Paradise 2021 was filmed at the Playa Escondida resort in Sayulita, Mexico.

Chris Harrison was removed as host, and various celebrity guest hosts filled in for him: David Spade, Titus Burgess, Lance Bass, and Lil Jon.

Lance Bass enjoyed it so much that he is down to come back permanently. "They're not asking me [to be a permanent host], of course it's going to depend on Bachelor Nation there . I mean, yes, of course it would be a dream come true to be able to host such a show," he told ET. (open in new tab)

Wells also revealed (open in new tab) that he is also down for the role of permanent host." I am not sure what the next step is, but whatever ABC and Bachelor Nation want I will go for it. If they want me to host a show, of course I will, and if they want me to be a janitor next season, OK, I will do that too." Reality Steve said this about Wells (opens in new tab): "I haven't heard any names other than Wells. So it wouldn't shock me if it ends up being him, but I haven't heard anything about it."

Bachelor Nation stars who fell in love in Paradise could also be seen on the beach: for example, Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon, who recently announced that Ashley is pregnant (technically together through two tumultuous Paradise seasons but still), or Astrid Rohit and Kevin Wendt who announced the same thing. Also, Raven Gates Gottschalk and Adam Gottschalk are a newlywed couple who are currently expecting their "honeymoon baby." (According to Reality Steve, the last couple to get engaged in Paradise are:

All of them. Joe and Selina were photographed (opens in new tab) walking out in Chicago, confirming that they are still together. (If you need more proof, Abigail from the season accidentally (open in new tab) confirmed that Joe and Selina are still engaged.) Reality Steve reported that Kenny and Mari were also photographed together, and his information that the two are engaged is (open in new tab ) "Bachelor in Paradise" (open in new tab) promo, which shows a person offering the same distinctive necklace and tattooed ring that Kenny is holding.

Yes, just like beloved Bachelorette Becca and Katie Thurston's season "villain" Thomas; the two hit it off in Paradise, but Becca eventually broke up with him on the beach and they left separately. According to Reality Steve, Becca and Thomas got back together after the shoot and are still together today.

Brendan and Peeper were unceremoniously kicked off the beach and split up a few months later; in September, after their episode aired, Peeper told Us Weekly: "We're working things out. This is obviously not a super-healthy relationship, so we're just going to be what we are. We're taking it one day at a time."

By October, the two had split.

Noah Erb and Abigail Hellinger broke up before the end of the season, and both remain single, according to Reality Steve magazine. However, they have since been pictured together (opens in new tab), and sharp-eyed Bachelor fans noticed that in a recent social media post, Abigail is wearing a necklace that Noah also recently wore (opens in new tab). But then former Bachelor Claire Crawley tagged Abigail (opens in new tab) in a post implying a breakup, and Bachelor Nation speculated that Abigail might be involved with Dale in some way. Adding fuel to the fire, Noah posted on his Instagram story (opens in new tab) that "a lot of interesting things are swirling around."

While we didn't get to see Alexa in Peter's season of "Paradise" this season, we did see Ivan Hall. While the cast was sheltering from the storm at the hotel, Ivan got Alexa's room number, went to see her, and emotionally left Paradise; it is not clear if the two are still together: "We still have a lot to talk about." There is much to explain. [I] think it all makes a lot of sense and I can't wait to have the opportunity to do it at some point in the near future."

Another source of drama on the beach was the love triangle of Chris, Alana, and Jessenia, which made Joe really angry on Jessenia's behalf and forced Chris and Alana to leave. (It is unclear if Alana and Chris are still together, but Alana said on the podcast "Bachelor Happy Hour" that Chris has "taken [her] on many dates."

Alana has also said that Chris has "taken her on many dates.

Now, first of all, there have been many apologies since the show began airing. Piper James apologized (opens in new tab) ("I am not an extension of Brendan and his behavior, nor do I condone dishonest behavior"), and Brendan also apologized ("The damage has already been done and all I can do in the future is admit the error of my ways I understand that"). Incidentally, Natasha told ET about the two apologies: "I saw his apology on his page and the numerous attempts she made to say for the press. Also, who you are ignoring. Call me, email me, DM me. They don't care about me."

Chris also apologized (opens in new tab): "I take full responsibility for my blatant disrespect to Jessenia and for the inappropriate way I handled the situation."

Others have blamed "bad editing" for their image on the program. (Opens in new tab) Blake Moner, who argued with Tia Booth, writes about how his efforts were not enough. I agree with Peeper on this one (opens in new tab): "It's a gentle reminder that reality shows are not real. Edited, produced, and cut-down shows cannot show all that is said and done." A show that is edited and produced cannot show conversations between friends that happened before filming."

Some of the other contestants spoke about their expectations for the season in general. On the Clickbait podcast, Joe said: "A lot of people find love, but it doesn't always pay off. I think there will be more heartbreak this time around than the last time I was on the show. It just seemed like a lot of people didn't have the same idea."

Tammy Lee told Entertainment Tonight, "I'm saying right now that this season is the most monumental season they've ever released." Of Chris Harrison, she said: "Honestly, I had forgotten he even existed."
