Netflix "You" Season 3: Everything We Know

Netflix "You" Season 3: Everything We Know

If, like me, you can't wait for the long-awaited next season of "You," you may be wondering, "Where will this show go next?" At the end of Season 2 (open in new tab), the killer protagonist Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley, was on a bit of a cliffhanger with his future going in one direction and his dreams (delusions) going in another. The third season of "You" will be October 15, 2021 It will be available on Netflix. Aside from stalking and cold-blooded murder, we pretty much know what to expect. (Opens in new tab)

In the first trailer, released on August 30, Joe is baking a beautiful birthday cake for his new son. In this chilling image, Joe's trademark voiceover reveals his son's name - Henry - and his regret at having a son instead of the daughter he and Love were expected to have." And I would be lying if I said that the idea of a mini-me is genuinely exciting and not without its challenges. Let's just say that I hope you do as you say, not as I do," he said. So do we, Joe. He continued. Again, so do we, Joe.

And on September 17, Netflix released the full-length trailer:

In the trailer, Joe says, "It's the scariest thing I've ever seen. Cue: baby crying. I've always believed in the "one." 'I moved to the soulless suburbs. For your sake, I'm marrying a monster. Your mother, love. We're the nice, normal neighbors next door."

There's more: in the trailer, Love hits someone with a rolling pin, lifts an axe and hits someone, at least one dead body, Joe lifts a bow and arrow, and a couple bury a body while a baby cries in a stroller." I never wondered: what happens after the boy gets the girl? Joe narrates.

Netflix also released first-look photos, giving us a glimpse into Joe and Love's new life in the Northern California suburb of Madre Linda. While Love works at a bakery, Joe roams the streets with baby Henry and works as a father. One image even shows Joe, wearing a stalking hat, with Henry strapped to his body in a baby carrier. The cage also travels to NorCal (one hopes it depicts how he carries it).

Fortunately, Caroline Kepnes, who wrote "Hidden Bodies," the original story of "You," has released "You Love Me," (opens in new tab) the third in the "You" series. (Kepnes is also already working on a fourth book, which may mean a guaranteed fourth season for the show.)

The synopsis for the third book reads: "Joe Goldberg stepped away from the city. Joe Goldberg has washed his feet of the city. Now he is on a cozy island in the Pacific Northwest, greeting nature and simple pleasures. He can breathe for the first time in a long time. He takes a job at the local library, where he meets her: Mary Kay DiMarco. Librarian. Joe doesn't interfere, doesn't obsess. He lends a shoulder to cry on and a helping hand. In time, they will heal their wounds and begin to live happily ever after in this quiet town."

Showrunner Sera Gamble told Us Weekly (opens in new tab) t that the third season will feature individual stories for love." The intent is to build her perspective, her desires, her problems, in a way that makes her feel like a fully realized romantic partner with her problems.

A Vulture article from August 2021 teases more details about the upcoming plot and how the show's central pair will deal with the challenges of being new parents." Joe is a gawky young father living in a fictional Bay Area suburb populated by tech billionaires, anti-vaccinationists, and mommy bloggers," it read (opens in new tab). "His new wife, Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), is willing to kill for love, as is Joe, but his violent proclivities know no bounds."

In the second season of "You," romance-obsessed protagonist Joe Goldberg moves to the West Coast to start over in hellish Los Angeles. He changes his name to Will, works at a vegan grocery store cum book café, befriends his journalist neighbor and her spirited sister, and appears to have abandoned his violent habits. Until Love (Victoria Pedretti) shows up.

Joe ends up a sort of good guy at the end of the season, finally admitting his wrongdoing and shutting himself away in a glass cage. She kills Joe's ex-lovers and neighbors Candace and Delilah, and gaslights her brother Forty, until he is killed by the cops investigating the Quinn family. She also reveals her pregnancy to Joe, who then feels trapped in Love's suburban fairy tale fantasy.

Netflix announced on January 25 that Scott Michael Foster would be joining "You" for Season 3; according to Deadline (opens in new tab), Foster will play Ryan, a single father and local TV reporter who has "overcome his addiction past."

Deadline continues, " Ryan has a secret, a controlling and calculating demeanor that is directed only at those who are close to him and those who get in his way." Ryan seems to fit right in.

Fans will remember Foster as Nathaniel Plimpton III in The CW's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, as well as his roles in Greek, Halt and Catch Fire, Once Upon a Time, and Californication. Foster joins several new cast members (open in new tab) including Dylan Arnold, Travis Van Winkle, Shalita Grant. [Chilling Adventures of Sabrina alum Tati Gabriel will also join the cast as Marienne, the no-nonsense librarian who sees through the town's rich and oblivious residents; according to Deadline, "Beneath her practical and good-natured exterior, Marienne hides a personal anguish that makes her a "good person" and a "good person. continues to frustrate her as she tries to create a better life for herself and her young child." And so it goes. She seems to get along with Joe right away, but whether or not she can endure their friendship could go either way.

Scott Speedman also joins the ever-growing cast; according to Netflix (opens in new tab), the actor will play Matthew. (Maybe Joe and Love's kid will get along with Matthew's kid.) 14]

Netflix's description of Matthew continues, " He tends to be reserved, mysterious, and reclusive."

All of which hides a deep emotional well beneath.

I can't say enough about the fan favorites of Seasons 1 and 2. In "You," dead people never really disappear. Consider Candace (Amber Childers), whom fans thought was just a ghost in Season 1. But in Season 2 she was alive and (sorta) well. Perhaps she will reappear in Season 3 as a figment of Joe's imagination. Then there's Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), who was killed at the end of season 1 but appeared in several episodes of season 2 as a ghost haunting Joe's consciousness. And actor James Scully, who played Love's brother Forty Quinn, has said nothing about returning to the set (he died in the Season 2 finale), but will return in Season 3 in flashback form as Love works through the grief caused by his tragic death. Imagined.

The same goes for Ellie (Jenna Ortega), who was told by Joe to flee to Florida at the end of season 2 after her sister Delilah was slaughtered by Love. Given Ellie's intelligence, it would not be surprising if she returned to California in season 3 to get to the bottom of her sister's disappearance.
