All Her Little Secrets is an impressive debut.

Readers were impressed with Wanda M. Morris's debut novel, All Her Little Secrets (opens in new tab). As one #ReadWithMC reviewer described it, this "fast-paced and exciting" legal thriller features a young black lawyer named Ellis who gets caught up in a tangle of intrigue after she discovers her white boss dead in his office.

"The book delves deeply into workplace racism in a truly insightful and informative way," another #ReadWithMC reviewer, who compares the book to a crossover between "The Whisper Network" (opens in new tab) and "When No One is Looking" (opens in new tab) writes." I enjoyed how the information was presented along with the thrilling plot."

Anyone interested in reading this book (and no, you don't have to be a lawyer to enjoy it, just a lawyer) should read it.

"Hello, super inspiring debut novel. I love reading debut novels because you never know what's going to happen. It's definitely a thriller, but there are shades of legal thriller and a hint of domestic suspense. It also explores race, sexism, and being a woman in the workplace. It's relevant, important, and completely entertaining. The less you know about this work, the better. If you like fast-paced, exciting, in-depth thrillers, read this one." -All Her Little Secrets was like a cross between The Whisper Network and When No One is Looking. It starts out similar to The Whisper Network, with a high-level C-level executive dead and no one knows why; instead of Me Too, this film focuses on racism in the workplace.

I absolutely loved the main character, Elise. She was very no-nonsense and as soon as she knew something fishy was going on, she knew she had to get to the bottom of it. She immediately tried to use her position of power in the company for good and to solve the problem of diversity in the company. Unfortunately, there were far more problems than she thought.

The book delves deeply into workplace racism in a truly insightful and informative way. I enjoyed how the information was presented along with the thrilling plot.

There is a lot of legalese that may turn some readers off. However, the plot was interesting all the way through. I thought it was very well paced." -@howdidthatbookend

"Genre: mystery, thriller, fiction.

Brief synopsis: Corporate lawyer Ellis Littlejohn is pushed to become a corporate executive after his boss is murdered. However, she finds that all is not as it seems at the firm. As she investigates, secrets from her past are about to be uncovered.

As a law student, when I read the synopsis of this legal thriller and heard comparisons to "How to Get Away with Murder," I knew I had to read it. I was not disappointed.

What I liked: ⚖️ It started off with a bang. ⚖️ Thrilling scenes and twists. ⚖️ Liked the main character and got an Annalise Keating vibe. ⚖️ The law student in me liked the lawyer story and the discussion of legal ethics. ⚖️ The dual timeline of the present and Ellis's past. ⚖️ Important discussion about race, especially in the legal profession/company. What I didn't like: ⚖️ A little confusing to sort through all the colleagues. ⚖️ A little cheesy/stale at times.

Overall, I enjoyed it a lot and was very impressed that this is the author's debut novel. There are important messages and themes about race, as Ellis is the only black executive and one of the few black employees in the office. There is also a plot about extreme political groups, but I will keep it vague to avoid spoilers.

It was super fun trying to figure out who orchestrated the murder, what evil was going on in the office, and what secrets Ellis was hiding. Ellis is a real badass. Ellis is a total badass and should be televised as a limited series.

If you are looking for a legal thriller, this is a must read.

"I was a fighter. Black girls are ...... I'm always fighting. Fighting to be heard, to be accepted, to stay alive. Even when we don't realize we are fighting, we are fighting."

⚠️: Child sexual abuse, drug abuse, abortion, murder. -I read most of All Her Little Secrets yesterday. It's a fast-paced thriller featuring a lawyer who is the only black employee at his workplace.

Elise has worked hard to bury her past, but it seems her secrets are about to be exposed in one fell swoop. First her boss and married lover is found murdered in her office, then the company promotes her, and then she stumbles upon a work scandal. -All Her Little Secrets revolves around Ellis Littlejohn, a black lawyer at Horton Transportation. When her boss, Michael, is found dead at his desk, shot in the temple, Ellis decides to turn a blind eye. This is only the beginning of her little secret being unraveled.

After being promoted to Michael's former position, Elise finds herself in an increasingly uncomfortable situation. Her brother Sam also appears to be in cahoots with his colleagues, but Elise has no idea why. Elise tries to keep her life and secrets well hidden, but what Elise reveals comes as a shock to everyone around her.

This is definitely a slow burn, but I enjoyed the back and forth between the past and present of Elise's life. We come to understand why she keeps secrets her whole life and why she acts the way she does. Elise had a rough upbringing, but she chose to build something on her own and never look back. I love this ending. It brings the story full circle." -@nissa_the.bookworm
