Cheerleading" Season 3: Everything We Know

Just a week after Season 2 of Cheerleader hit Netflix, we're already ready to get back to the mat. Here's everything we know about a possible season 3 of the cheerleading documentary, including which teammates will be back once it hits the streamers.

The second season of the Netflix documentary followed the Navarro cheer squad's journey to Daytona and their rival, Trinity Valley Community College, as they prepared to compete in the NCA Championships. We followed the many obstacles Navarro faced over the past two years: being forced to abandon the 2020 championships due to COVID and competing with a nearly new team when school finally reopened; Monica Aldama coaching to compete on "Dancing with the Stars" The season was also marked by a number of other problems: a break from the business, the sudden departure of Ladarius Marshall after a feud, the arrest of Jerry Harris, and the stress and prestige that came with the huge success of the first season. Also, spoiler alert: the challenges of the TVCC as underdogs in this season and how it propelled them to the title of 2021 champions.

Netflix has not yet confirmed a third season of this cheerleading documentary, but given that the second season was a complete surprise to fans - the news broke just weeks after the new season premiered on the streaming service it is possible that season 3 is already filming and will be released in late 2022 or early 2023.

According to the NCA, this year's championship is scheduled to take place from April 6-10. This means that (barring any pandemic-related delays or cancellations) Navarro and TVCC should already be in practice and preparing for the tournament, which will be held in a few months (along with Netflix cameras).

At the end of Season 2, Navarro and several key members of Trinity Valley were shown discussing whether they would return for another year. Navarro's Maddie Bloom said she would definitely come back to win a championship like Jillian did; Casady Dunlap said she was ready to move on from this experience; TVCC's Jada Wooten also said she was ready to retire her cheerleading uniform; and TVCC's Jayde Wooten said she was ready to move on from this experience, teammate Devonte "Dee" Joseph was excited to be back on the mat.

As for Morgan Simianer, who featured heavily in Cheer's first season and the first half of season two, she told Marie Claire in a recent interview that she definitely will not be returning to Navarro.

"I left the team in 2020 when COVID hit," Simianer said. 'I had already graduated and was doing double school so I could go back to Navarro and be part of the (cheer) program. I had to start a new major that I wasn't passionate about, I had to pay student loan after student loan, and COVID gave me the opportunity to look at the big picture and realize that I had done everything I came to Navarro to do. And I was able to end my support of Navarro in a positive way."

Meanwhile, Gabi Butler hinted to Marie Claire that he will likely return for the third season of Cheer. '"Technically, I have another year [at Navarro]," Butler said. 'At junior college I can only do three years. But thanks to COVID, everyone is eligible for another year.
