Rachel Lindsay Shares Her Favorite Books in "Shelf Portrait"

Rachel Lindsay wears many hats. Former Bachelor contestant, first black Bachelorette, lawyer, TV correspondent, and now a debut author (opens in new tab) in Marie Claire's latest episode of "Shelf Portrait" (opens in new tab), Celebrities, influencers, and famous bookworms show off their personal book collections. She loves Trevor Noah's Born a Crime (opens in new tab) and Michelle Obama's Becoming (opens in new tab) - two biographies she recently read - and Greg McKeown's Essentialism (opens in new tab) and Christina Dulcher's "Vox" (open in new tab) (the latter, she says, is very relevant to what is happening in society today).

Books that Lindsay received from an ex-lover that she still keeps on her bookshelf are Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People" (opens in new tab) and Michael Eric Dyson's "Mercy, Mercy, Me" ( (opens in a new tab). Toward the end of the video, Lindsay opens up about writing her debut novel, "Miss Me With That" (opens in new tab) (January 25), describing the process as "rigorous." I've always wanted to write a book, especially after doing The Bachelorette," she said. 'It's rigorous. I have a lot to say, but at the same time I have to be careful to tell my own story and not someone else's business. This is the first time people will know Lindsay's complete, unedited story.
