Read MoreHere at Marie Claire, we love a good book as much as we love Meghan Markle's fabulous outfits (opens in new tab). But between busy schedules and twists and turns in life, it's not so easy to join a book club. So, you get the reading you need done at a time that suits you (but you're responsible for finishing it!). ), I figured out a way to meet new friends while relaxing on the couch.
#ReadWithMC is an online monthly book club created by the Marie Claire editorial team. We choose the books, you read them. We then collect honest and authentic reviews and recommendations from you and other #ReadWithMC participants and publish them on our site. After a long day, you want to take off your bra and lie down.
Before the new month begins, we'll announce our book picks in this post.
Buy your book and start reading with us on the 1st (or even before if you want to get a little ahead of the curve); post your review on Twitter or Instagram by the 28th with the hashtag #ReadWithMC and your review may be featured* on the site.
You may also submit your review on your personal Twitter or Instagram account, but your profile must be public in order for us to review your hashtag and consider you for inclusion on the site. Alternatively, you can leave a review on our #ReadWithMC Instagram post. You can also tweet or post with the hashtag throughout the month to see real-time feedback about the book and the progress of other #ReadWithMC readers.
If you are a member of the Goodreads community, you can follow updates here (opens in new tab) or sign up here (opens in new tab).
Official reviews are posted on the first of each month. (In other words, June's book review will be posted on July 1.) This is a good way to recommend books to women who are interested in adding to their reading list but have not yet joined #ReadWithMC.
Starting July 1, we will be reading On Rotation by Shirlene Obuobi. Please read an excerpt from the book.
We will be reading relatively new books, i.e., books published within the past few months. Most will be novels, but they may also be memoirs or collections of essays. Any book is guaranteed to make you laugh, smile, cry, bring down the patriarchy, or all of the above. Last month, we read These Impossible Things by Salma El-Wardany. This interactive book club is composed entirely of women authors, and a collection of book reviews can be found here (opens in a new tab).
The August book will be announced on July 27, so there will be ample time to purchase books before the book club begins on the 1st.
Any questions, please contact @marieclaire. Have a good reading!
*Reviews may be summarized and edited for clarity and will be chosen based on content and quantity. By submitting a review with the hashtag #ReadWithMC, you agree to be included in our review collection. Only reviews submitted by the 28th of each month will be considered.
