Who is Tom Uraskiha, aka Enzo from "Stranger Things"?

"Stranger Things" welcomed several new cast members in its fourth season, some of whom made fans think, "Wait, I know I've seen him somewhere before." One actor who caught viewers' attention was Tom Wasiha, who plays Dmitri "Enzo" Antonov, a Russian prison guard who becomes Hopper's ally. Dmitri hands Hopper over to Joyce for a ransom of $40,000, and in the letter he signs his name as Enzo, the name of the restaurant where Jopper was supposed to go on a date.

Dmitri is a popular new character thanks to Uraschiha, who has experience playing fan favorite characters in another mega-hit franchise. Here is what we know about this busy German actor.

This 48-year-old actor was born in Dona, Dresden, East Germany. He traveled young, visiting Massachusetts as an exchange student at the age of 17, just as the Berlin Wall was falling. He studied German and Russian, and also spoke French and Italian.

Vlaskiha appeared in theater in Germany before moving on to television shows and films based in that country and, in the late 00s, to the United States. She says, "At first I was in a lot of theater in Germany. I love theater, and this is basically where I started," he said in a 2018 interview with Metro.style (opens in new tab).

He also said in an interview with Discover Germany (opens in new tab) that he wanted to be an actor at age 15 or 16. He said, "My uncle was a famous opera singer and was allowed to leave East Germany from time to time to perform. Maybe I saw acting a little bit as a possibility to see the world," he said.

Wlaschiha is best known for playing Jaqen H'ghar, the "Faceless Man" who trains Arya to become a "nobody" in seasons 2, 5, and 6 of "Game of Thrones." He played the role in 2012 and hit HBO in 2016. There was a three-year blank before he returned to the film, and in a 2015 interview (open in new tab), he said he never thought he would return to the show.

"There was hope, but it was tricky. That character isn't in the books anymore, at least not for now," he said. He wanted to return, but things don't usually happen on "Game of Thrones" as one would hope.

In addition to GoT, he has appeared in "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" on Prime Video, "Crossing Lines" on NBC, and the films "Rush" and "Berlin Falling."

In addition to his work on screen, he has done a lot of voice-over work, including narrating audiobooks and dubbing content in German. He also dubbed his own role in Game of Thrones. His latest work is voicing Buzz in German in the upcoming prequel Lightyear.

In an interview with Rolling Stone India (opens in new tab), Uraskiha said he finds it more fun to play villains and aims to portray his characters as complex people. He said, "Whenever I bring a character to life, I think it's important to portray them as human beings, no matter how flawed they may be.

"A good script always provides multi-layered, conflicted characters who struggle with each situation in the story. 'When playing a character, I always try not to moralize about his actions. That should always be left to the audience."

Urrutiha primarily shares snaps of his work on Instagram, which fortunately includes selfies with fellow cast members and photos of filming locations. He also posts what appear to be personal trips, showing off his wanderlust with photos from Egypt, Russia, Ghana, Switzerland, and Northern Ireland.
