One year after the international smash hit Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) ended its run, the high-tech Robin Hood tale gets a Korean version: Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area (Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area). (Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area), an original epic heist drama is set in a fictional world on the verge of unifying North and South Korea after 80 years. A new professor (Yoo Ji-tae) has a meticulous plan to steal 4 trillion won ($3 billion) of the new unified currency from the Unification Mint before a joint police task force can stop him.

The names and roles of the gang of thieves are the same as in the original story, but new personalities and backstories complicate the similar yet very different heist. The Professor is the brains behind the heist, assembling the thieves and spending years thinking of every possible scenario for the revolutionary heist. He directs his team from outside the mint and orders them according to his own strict principles.

Yoo is best known for his film roles in the romance "One Fine Spring Day" and Park Chan-wook's revenge film "Old Boy." He has also appeared in the Korean dramas "When Love Blooms" and "Healer."

Berlin, who leads the thieves inside the mint, is a North Korean prisoner who escaped after living for 24 years in a concentration camp. While the professor believes in treating hostages humanely, the rebellious ex-convict wants to use fear to gain absolute control over the hostages and his team.

Park is best known for his portrayal of white-collar criminal Cho Sang-woo, aka Player 218, in the Netflix mega-hit Squid Game. Prior to that, he appeared in the drama Prison Playbook and the films Time to Hunt and Yaksha: Ruthless Operations.

Tokyo grew up in North Korea and served in the army before moving to South Korea to start a better life. After being scammed and discriminated against, he was about to give up when a professor invited him to join a robbery.

A rising star, Jeong made his film debut in "Burning" opposite Steven Yeun and won the Baeksang Art Award for his lead role in the thriller "The Call." After "Money Heist," Chung is set to appear in the survival drama "Bargain" and the Netflix project "Ballerina.

Rio is a talented hacker on the team who changed his path to crime after dropping out of medical school. Lee appeared as a child actor in historical dramas such as "Queen Seondeok" and "The Return of Iljime," before playing the lead role in the drama "Liar Mi-kun and the Lovers." He also played a hacker in the film "Cheaters" and a North Korean spy in the film "Secretly Great".

Moscow is an expert in mining and is in charge of building tunnels under the mint. He is a kind man and a devoted father to his son Denver. Lee is a film and drama actor who has appeared in the dramas Rustic Times, Hidden Identity, The Vampire Prosecutor, The Strongest Deliverer, and Uncontrollably Fond.

Denver, Moscow's strong son, is a notorious gangster and brawler. Kim made his debut as a drama actor in 2002, and last year made headlines for his portrayal of the villain Baek Hee-sung in the thriller drama "Evil Flower." He is also set to appear in the Netflix project Ballerina and the Netflix drama Love to Hate You.

Nairobi is a charming con artist and has extensive experience in counterfeiting, which comes in handy at the mint. Chang is one of Korea's most successful models, having debuted in 1997 and having hosted Korea's Next Top Model (including a season in which she was runner-up to Hoyoung Chung of Squid Game). She made her acting debut in the action film Veteran and also starred in the drama Perfume.

Helsinki and Oslo are the team's muscle, two ethnic Koreans who are former Chinese gang members. Lee has been a versatile actor since his debut in 2002, appearing in such films as "The Healer," "Dr. Romantic," and "The Flame Priestess." Kim debuted in 2012 and has appeared in "Chimera," "Good Detective," and "Stranger."

Korean negotiator Song Woo-jin is brought in to help a hostage escape unharmed and ends up in a battle of wits with the professor. Kim is a Korean-American actress who has appeared in all six seasons of "Lost" and the ABC soap "Mistresses". She has also appeared in hit Korean films such as "Siri," "Aldo," and "Three Thousand Leagues to See My Father."

Representing North Korea on the police task force team is Cho Moo-hyuk, a former special agent who clashes with Woo-jin. Kim has appeared in films such as The Man from Nowhere and The Pirates: He has also appeared in dramas such as Secret Garden and Fight for My Way.

Among the hostages is Cho Young-min, the arrogant director of the Mint. Park Young-min is best known for his portrayal of the man hidden in the basement in Parasite, and has also appeared in Crash Landing to You and Eve.
