Pretty Little Liars Original Sin" Season 2: Everything We Know

HBO Max's Pretty Little Liars is the latest reboot of the teen drama: Original Sin, a spin-off of the 2010s pop culture phenomenon (which aired on ABC Family turned Freeform) premiered last week and is already garnering praise from fans and critics alike for its unique slasher-inspired spin-off and the more mundane yet dramatic conflicts affecting the new cast of Liars (opens in new tab).

The first season follows four girls in the blue-collar town of Millwood, Pennsylvania, as a new A follows them through a multi-generational mystery to punish their mothers for the sins they committed as teenagers during the Y2K era. The show has just begun, but its unique schedule of multiple episodes a week is driving fans to run through the series. Here is what we know so far about a possible Season 2.

So far, HBO Max has not said whether a second season is in the works for Original Sin. It took some time for this spinoff to make its way to the screen. It was first announced in 2020, only three years after the "Pretty Little Liars" finale, which seemed a little too soon for a reboot. (By comparison, "Gossip Girl 2.0" was released nine years after the original's 2012 finale.) The Original Sin was eventually released five years after the swan song of PLL.

Judging from the hype that still exists around the "Pretty Little Liars" franchise (fans will likely show up when trying to play "Secrets" in public), HBO Max plans for "Original Sin" to last at least two to three seasons It is highly likely that the company has a plan. After all, a new and intriguing mystery has been set up, and its identity will not be revealed anytime soon.

As for renewals, it seems we won't have to wait long for news: after three episodes premiere on July 28, HBO Max will drop the next two episodes on August 4, two more on August 11, and the final three on August 18. Expect the show's ratings and a decision on Season 2 to come soon after the finale.

Even though the series has just begun, it is almost certain that the five new Liars (played by Bailey Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Maria Piles, and Maia Lefico) will be on the series until the final episode. In the original "PLL," the main group of five were the stars, and all of them survived to the finale (not counting Mona), even though one of them (Allison) was supposed to be dead from the first episode. Also, the first rule of 21st century teen franchises is that the main cast never dies. So there will be many more Imogen, Tabby, Farran, Noah, and Mouse to come.
