Bachelor in Paradise" 2022: Everything We Know

[Sun, sea, and dozens of attractive people looking for love and Instagram followers. Last year's Paradise was especially out of control thanks to the record number of contestants who showed up on the beach, greeted by Lil Jon, Lance Bass, Titus Burgess, David Spade (yes, really), etc. How could ABC top last year's season, which was low on ratings but heavy on drama? Can it do it? Despite rumors in the spring that ABC might close this chapter of the franchise, the network ultimately decided to renew "Bachelor in Paradise" for an eighth blockbuster season. This year's season will air later than usual, but make no mistake about it: we will be back in Mexico, and everyone will get a second, or third, or fourth, or fifth chance.

"Bachelor in Paradise" will premiere on ABC on Tuesday, September 27. This is unusual: "Paradise" typically airs in late summer. Most seasons of "Paradise" air from mid-August to mid-September, but the 2021 season ran through October (as I said, many contestants, much drama). However, the next season of Bachelorette, featuring Gabby Windy and Rachel Recchia, will air in July. Since their Bachelorette season will probably run through September, essentially taking up the typical slot for Paradise, we can expect Paradise to air around October.

Despite all its upsets, Paradise is the funniest edition of the franchise. Basically, everyone is just getting drunk on the beach.

The 2022 season of Paradise will take a cue from Love Island, separating all the contestants and adding new ones to ensure maximum drama. According to Reality Steve, "All couples will be separate men and women, with one man and one woman going to separate villas and meeting new singles. The men stay on the beach and are introduced to the five newly brought women."

In May, the network officially named Jesse Palmer as host of the 2022 edition of Paradise; ABC also announced that likable former contestant Wells Adams will once again serve as bartender, stepping down from his "master of ceremonies" role last year. (Adams' would-be wife, Modern Family's Sarah Hyland, was recently named host of Love Island USA, so they have the beach dating market covered.)

On Us Weekly's "Here For the Right Reasons" podcast, Palmer said of Paradise: "This place is insane. It's absolutely crazy. There are so many people. It's just chaotic, there's a lot of drama, and yes, there are things happening in Paradise that I've never seen before. I've been watching this show for years and I'm a big fan. And we've switched things up. We've changed a lot of things. It's hard to keep track of it all, to be honest."

"Right now, I'm looking at the different casts and just hoping that the relationships will survive all the drama and all the confusion that people inevitably find on this beach," he told TV Insider." It's kind of the same thing (with Bachelor and Bachelorette).

Remember when Palmer said "all these people" were on the beach? There were 43, up from 41 the year before. While the cast of "Paradise" remains unconfirmed until ABC releases the official cast list, here is who Reality Steve and other spoiler accounts expect to be on the beach:

[3 Taysha's season Ben Smith wrote on Instagram, "Nah, girl," when asked if he would join the cast, despite rumors that Teddy might be interested in him. Demi Barnett replied, "I can't be on 'Bachelor in Paradise' again," adding, "Besides, I'm out of their league."

Meanwhile, former Bachelor Peter Weber, according to E. News, largely agreed with Paradise." I always kept looking at (Paradise) like it was one venue that I hadn't really checked off or tried yet. I thought maybe I could give it one more try. (ABC and I) ended up not agreeing on anything. I feel like everything happens for a reason, so it's all good."

According to Reality Steve, this season's "villain" may be Kate Gallivan, familiar from Clayton's season. 'Kate could be the next villain,' he said. 'I don't think her editing will work, and from what I hear, she's rubbing some of the contestants the wrong way.'
