Princess Kate to continue royal duties in bed as she recovers from abdominal surgery.

Critics of the Princess of Wales love to comment on her (what they call) "lack of work ethic" and claim that she does not work as hard as other senior royals. In addition to her royal duties, Princess Kate is literally raising the future of the British royal family - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. A typical working mother, Kate is constantly caught in a never-ending seesaw conundrum (yes, her job is different than most): "If I give my all to my work, my family suffers" or "If I give my all to my family, my work suffers." It's a no-win situation.

So naturally, critics even came for Kate after it was announced that she would be taking a break from royal duties until at least April after abdominal surgery. (Really?) Hopefully silencing the "lack of work ethic" critics, several news outlets assure us that after returning home to Adelaide Cottage (she is still in the London Clinic), Kate will take on royal duties in bed and "her work will continue to be carried out" the Mirror reported.

While rest is a given, the Times reports that "her work will continue." Kate's office at Kensington Palace has contacted Kate's benefactors and asked them to postpone or reschedule appointments, and her private secretary, Nathalie Barrow, "along with William's private secretary, Jean-Christophe Gray, have stepped in to help her continue her work," the Mirror wrote. The Sun reports that the Crown Prince and Princess' official visit to Italy scheduled for next month "has been canceled and William will not be traveling alone."

Kate, who underwent surgery on January 16, is expected to be hospitalized for at least 10 days, possibly 14, and will be released from the London clinic around January 30. According to the Times, as soon as she returns home from the hospital, she will work in bed and return to royal duties "as soon as possible" due to her "unwavering commitment to her duties."

And the Times reported that Kate's health scare has caused the Welsh couple to adopt a new motto. 'The children have always been the center of their world. 'They always will be. They want to maintain as much normalcy as possible going forward."
