Jennifer Lopez is the Queen of Flowers at Paris Fashion Week
Jennifer Lopez bloomed at Paris Fashion Week. At the opening Schiaparelli show, Lopez wore a custom-made coat made of hundreds of real rose petals created by Schiaparelli Creative Director Daniel Rosebery. Today, the actress replaced her avant-garde outerwear and surrealist accessories with, you guessed it, flowers again! This time, however, the outfit was a bit softer and more abstract. Lopez wore a green gown and flower cape by Elie Saab for the Spring/Summer 2024 Couture Collection show. It looked as if it had stepped out of a fairy tale.
Let's break down her outfit, which focused on flowers. This multi-hyphenate, draped over her shoulders, was covered in hundreds of soft pastel greens, pinks, and purples, creating an ethereal atmosphere. Instead of the real roses she wore in the Schiaparelli show, Elie Saab's creations were crafted with feathers, creating the optical illusion of flowers. We would not have been surprised if Lopez had gracefully spun around to reveal magical animals singing on her shoulders. The gowns had an enchanting energy that was befitting of a Disney film.
Now for the rest of her look: beneath the cape was Lopez's green dress, which coordinated with the moss color of the cape. The gown was soft satin in texture, with a plunging neckline and a belt with a crystallized motif wrapped around the center to cinch in her waist. She wore only a dainty ring and heart-shaped stud earrings.
The dress covered her choice of shoes, but the cutest accessory in her look, besides the cape, was the green ribbon tied in her hair. This bow brought the look together and solidified the soft, princess aesthetic of the entire ensemble. Makeup was simple smokey eyes, silver shadow, and fluffy lashes. Lips were nude and the overall makeup was soft.
Romantic embellishments such as ribbons, lace, and rosettes dominated last year's trend cycle, but J.Lo is adamant that this trend is not going anywhere anytime soon. What's more, this isn't the first time Lopez has worn rosettes: during the holidays, she was spotted wearing a cherry-red holiday dress decorated with flowers. It's official: the rosette floral trend is endorsed by J.Lo.
There is no "right way" to statement dress, but if you're going to do so, start with Fashion Week. However, every day can be a call for statement dress. For example, Julia Fox has been casually wearing bridal-inspired looks on the streets of New York, while Kendall Jenner has opted for headline-grabbing Bottega Veneta moments whenever and wherever she can.
Now, Lopez's statement dress requires two things: a Parisian backdrop and hundreds of flowers.
