The Internet is criticizing men who are upset that Taylor Swift is enjoying an NFL game.
The Internet is defending Taylor Swift after men attacked her while she was having fun at a pro football game. Since starting a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs safety Travis Kelce, Swift has attended several NFL games to cheer on her boyfriend and his team. Apparently, Swift enjoys herself during the games, and some men find her unbridled joy irrepressibly annoying.
"Is there anything more annoying than Taylor Swift at a football game?" one X (formerly known as Twitter) user asked at a recent playoff game at Arrowhead Stadium, where Swift and Travis Kelce's mother, Donna Kelce posted along with a video of him swag surfing with the Kansas City Chiefs crowd! The audacity of it!
Shortly thereafter, people took to social media to defend Swift and condemn the men who take issue with women not experiencing even a shred of happiness.
"Oh... How annoying that she goes to so many places, participates and exists in life. The audacity of some women ......" Another wrote. In response to the false outrage, others had more to say.
Another X-user noted how Swift would be blamed and criticized if he decided not to go to any games. 'If a famous man goes to a football game and the cameras show him, it's ok because he's a fan. But if Taylor Swift goes to a Chiefs game, it's bad because all she cares about is publicity, but if she doesn't go, it means she's a terrible girlfriend who doesn't support her man."
Another social media user noted that it is not Swift's fault that the network decides to pan the superstar during the game. That user posted on X, "I'm simply supporting my boyfriend and the Taylor Swift hate train is lame." She said, "I'm here! Turn the camera on."
In a recent interview for TIME magazine's "Person of the Year" feature, the pop star mentioned the hate she receives for showing up at NLF games to support her boyfriend. Swift told the magazine, "I don't know how they know what suite I'm in. 'There's a camera a mile away, and I don't know where it is, and I don't know when it's going to show up.'
She added, "I'm at the game to support Travis," adding, "I'm not at all aware if I'm pissing off some of the dads, Brad and Chad, because I'm being shown too much."
