Jennifer Coolidge thanks "all the evil gays" in her Emmy acceptance speech.
Jennifer Coolidge delivered another iconic acceptance speech at the awards ceremony.
Coolidge, who won the 2024 Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, proudly portrayed her White Lotus character, Tanya McQuaid. In her speech, referring to Tanya's now legendary line, "These gays, they're trying to kill me," Coolidge thanked her "evil gays" by name, including co-stars Paolo Camilleri, Bruno Guerri, and Francesco Zecca. 'I want to thank all the wicked gays,' he said. Truly."
Coolidge also drew laughter at the beginning of her acceptance speech when she placed the Emmy statue on the ground and said she had "no strength" to lift it. (She also said that according to "White Lotus" creator Mike White, Tanya is "definitely dead," and that Coolidge will not win a third Emmy for the role.)
Even happier, Coolidge's "White Lotus" co-star Michael Imperioli presented the award. Last year, he joked that his Emmy acceptance speech was "moxie" for being too long, and this year it was overdue again.
Coolidge's speech was mildly criticized by Doris Hancox, Anthony Anderson's mother, who was charged with making sure the acceptance speech went on time. To Coolidge's credit, she probably could have kept the audience laughing all night.
