Niecy Nash-Betz gave an emotional speech at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, December 15: After winning Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her Netflix show "Monster," Nash-Betz Emmys, Nash-Betts took the stage and delivered an emotional speech: after winning Best Supporting Actress for The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Nash-Betts took the stage at the Emmys and delivered what many believe to be one of the best acceptance speeches of all time."
"I'm a winner, baby!" Nash-Betz exclaimed as she proudly held up her Emmy trophy.
"I thank God Most High for this sacred moment. Ryan Murphy, thank you for watching over me. Evan Peters, I love you. Netflix. To all who voted for me, thank you. Thank you, my better half, for picking up my gut on this film."
And Nash-Betz thanked the person most instrumental in her success: herself.
"And you know who I want to thank. I want to say to myself, in front of all these beautiful people, for believing in me, for doing what they told me I couldn't do."
The crowd erupted in applause, and some celebrities even gave Nash-Betz a standing ovation for taking the time to honor herself and show the self-love she deserved.
The award-winning actress also made a strong political statement defending and honoring black and brown women.
"Finally, I accept this award on behalf of all black and brown women who have been unheard and over-policed, like Glenda Cleveland, like Sandra Bland, like Breona Taylor," she said, and the audience erupted in applause again. 'As an artist, my job is to speak truth to power. Mom, I won!" . Nash-Betz won the award for her portrayal of Glenda Cleveland, who lived next door to convicted murderer and serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and tried to warn the police of his actions in 1991. Unfortunately, the police ignored Cleveland and Dahmer was not caught until much later.
