Six months after her divorce, Sofia Vergara finally opens up about her divorce from Joe Manganiello.
Divorce is hard enough, even if the public eye is not on you. This is, of course, the case for Sofia Vergara, who announced her divorce from her husband of seven years, Joe Manganiello. Both she and Manganiello are very high-profile, and when Vergara announced her divorce plans, she did all she could to prepare for the media onslaught.
"I've moved on," Vergara told CBS Sunday Morning. "You're out there [in the public eye] and people know that's part of being a celebrity. I knew it was going to happen. You can't hide those things."
Thankfully, Vergara said the media coverage of her divorce was accurate and straightforward, which made it easier for her to "get through" a difficult time in her life, according to Page Six. 'It wasn't bad,' Vergara said. "I think the press was very polite and helpful. And I thought they were going to fabricate more stuff. I was surprised and they, they just said what it was and that was it.'
In July, Vergara and Manganiello released a joint statement about their relationship. It read, "As two people who love and care about each other very much, we politely ask that you respect our privacy as we enter this new phase of our lives.
A source told Page Six that the two had been "growing apart for some time" and had chosen to "distance themselves a bit from each other to think about the future." The magazine reported that "a strong desire to have children" led to the separation, shortly after Manganiello filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences." (Page Six, meanwhile, wrote that conflicting reports had left Vergara "feeling suffocated" in her marriage "with a partner who was hardly cooperative" in their marriage.
