Kate Hudson on reuniting with her estranged sister: "We just started crying."
Kate Hudson revealed that she is happy to have begun building a relationship with one of her estranged sisters.
Kate and her brother Oliver Hudson host the podcast Sibling Revelry together, which explores the dynamics between siblings and family members with a variety of guests.
In the most recent episode, Kate and Oliver invited twins Joel and Benji Madden (of Good Charlotte (band) and Very Famous Wives (not a band) fame) to discuss their experiences of being siblings.
At one point, the Madden brothers emphasized how important it is for siblings to communicate so that they have someone to be there for them as they face life's challenges.
Kate agreed, and a few minutes later she said, "There was a moment last year when I thought, 'Why don't I talk to my other siblings? It doesn't matter what my history with my parents is, and especially for me, who doesn't have sisters like I do, I have two sisters that I don't talk to for no other reason than that our families are separated." [My sister and I and my brother are all just starting to get in touch again. I'm not going to lie, my sister and I just got off the phone and we started shedding tears. It was so wonderful. It was really great. [My sister said], 'You know what? 'Let's start right now. Let's start now.'"
Kate, 44, and Oliver, 47, are the parents of Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson. But after their parents divorced, Kate and Oliver's half-siblings range in age from 18 to 37, as Us Weekly magazine reports.
Kate previously opened up about the family estrangement on the podcast Sibling Revelry; in January 2021, she told Oliver (via E! News), "We've talked a lot about sibling relationships and distraught relationships or good relationships and we sitting here like so wonderful, like we have the best family. And yet, we refuse to acknowledge the fact that we have four other siblings. So I have been thinking about the Hudson family for a long time. I think it's important to reach out to all of our siblings and connect with them a little bit."
Sadly, Kate is also estranged from her father, Bill Hudson, who also spoke on Sunday Today in January 2021. 'I think estrangement is unfortunately common. I think it's important for people to talk about it," she said (via People). "Sometimes it takes a little talk and humor to move us to a place where we can heal some of the wounds."
"I think it's important for people to talk about it," she said, "because it can be a very difficult time for people to talk about it.
The glass onion actress is as happy as she is that she has been able to move forward in building relationships with her other siblings!
