Christina Applegate's ex-husband, Jonathon Schecht, was delighted following her emotional appearance at the Emmys.

Tweeting a quote from an Entertainment Weekly post that read, "Christina Applegate received a standing ovation as she took the stage with a bedazzled cane at the 2023 Emmys after her diagnosis of M.S.," Shaykh said, "She Danced opening night on Broadway with a broken leg! She beat cancer! She is the toughest person I have ever met, M.S. What a m.s.! I am so proud of her! Way to go, Christina!!!

As background, Applegate disclosed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and underwent a double mastectomy at the time. I am a 36-year-old breast cancer patient and not many people know that that happens to women my age or in their 20s. This is now my chance to get out there and fight as hard as I can for early detection."

In 2017, the actress told TODAY that she took precautions to avoid further cancer diagnoses." You are the first person to tell me this; two weeks ago I had my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. 'My cousin died of ovarian cancer in 2008. I could have prevented it. That's how I got everything under control. It's a relief. Now I have another one off the table. Now let's just hope I don't get hit by a bus."
