Aubrey Plaza laughs at her Emmy Awards dress.
Aubrey Plaza knows not only how to tell a joke, but how to take a joke.
At the Emmy Awards ceremony, actress Aubrey Plaza wore a gold Loewe gown.
The dress immediately took the Internet by storm and may not have been what the celebrity wanted.
Fans made memes and jokes about the dress. For example, a comment on her Instagram post read, "How can you win an Emmy at 7 and get your wisdom teeth removed at 8?"
One user wrote, "When your kindergarten teacher sends you home with a permission slip to sign."
Another said, "I was worried you wouldn't post it."
But Plaza took the joke in stride and put one of the memes on the Emmy photo carousel. The last photo included a "Sex and the City"-related meme of her own dress.
For those unfamiliar with the wider world of "Sex and the City," this refers to season 6, episode 7 of "Sex and the City," titled "The Post-It Always Sticks Twice." In this episode, Carrie Bradshaw's boyfriend, Jack Berger, dumps her with a yellow Post-It: "I'm a good girl. Don't hate me."
Not surprisingly, Carrie did not take the news well, making this one of the most memorable episodes of the series. [It takes a Plaza "Sex and the City" fan to recognize the importance of this Post-It.
Adding to her coolness, this isn't the only current dress meme Plaza shared. She also shared a photo of herself posing with her "Spin Me Round" co-star Debbie Ryan, as well as one that read, "Don't forget to change your air filter." (Thanks for the reminder, by the way!)
One meme not shared by the actress (but definitely worth a look) was by Kraft Singles, who replaced the square bodice of the dress with a slice of cheese.
Please excuse me while I laugh at the Plaza dress meme for the rest of the day and send it to her on Instagram. We love her because we know she can take a joke.
