Rohde's first cleanser is finally available.
Glazed doughnuts taste like nothing else, but do you ever crave a bite of fruit first?
It's been a long rode, but Haley Bieber is finally bringing her skincare brand to the world of cleansers, and Rohde's Pineapple Refresh Daily Cleanser, which officially launched on Thursday, January 25, is the first step in Rohde's skin care routine Created to be the first step in Rohde's skincare routine.
The product's hero ingredients include polyglutamic acid, green tea extract, and pineapple enzymes, all of which skin care experts say are the real deal.
"Polyglutamic acid, most commonly referred to as PGA, is most recognized for its hydrating properties and ability to retain moisture more effectively than hyaluronic acid, a common skin care ingredient for increasing moisture. PGA's potent moisturizing properties improve skin elasticity, and its ability to retain moisture is also known to help improve skin elasticity, resulting in smoother, firmer skin," explains Dr. Shuting Hu, biologist and founder and CEO of Acaderma. Green tea extract, on the other hand, is renowned for its "powerful antioxidant properties, which help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and signs of aging, as well as soothe irritated and inflamed skin.
And the product's namesake ingredient, "pineapple enzyme, is a great natural exfoliant that helps refine skin texture by removing dead skin cells to reveal smoother, more radiant skin," Dr. Fu adds.
After rinsing, ingredients like glycerin and hyaluronic acid help maintain moisture and assist in the glowing ritual.
"The ingredients are great and lend themselves to [the cleanser being] a really good option for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. All cleansers/soaps contain surfactants that help remove dirt and oil from the skin. Rohde's has chosen to go with those that are gentler on the skin. They also contain moisturizing and soothing ingredients such as glycerin, PGA, and tocopherol. The addition of pineapple fruit extract provides a natural source of glycolic acid, gentle exfoliation, and soothing antioxidant properties," Dr. Robert Finney, board-certified cosmetic dermatologist and founder of Soho Skin and Hair Restoration He adds.
While some people switch between oil and gel cleansers, Bieber's company has developed a unique and gentle balm-to-leather formula that combines some of what we like about each formula. (However, if you are removing water-proof makeup or full laminate, they recommend starting with an actual oil cleanser.)
"The silky golden balm dissolves into a fresh lather that easily washes away SPF, makeup, and dirt without stripping or drying the skin. Instead, Pineapple Refresh is the ultimate morning/afternoon refresh for your skin, leaving skin with a fresh, dewy glow and feeling like a vacation in the sun," the brand shares.
While pineapple and beach imagery feature heavily in the product branding, the final product is fragrance-free. As such, it is ideal for all skin types, including the most sensitive among us.
"Overall, [this is] a great option for all skin types: it is accessible for those with sensitive skin and still contains a little exfoliation," adds Dr. Finney.
"Dr. Banusari, the developer of this formulation, has a great track record of producing very elegant topical formulations.
How refreshing.
