Jodie Foster Says Turning 60 Was the 'Best Day' of Her Life

Jodie Foster, 61, appeared on the TODAY show with Hoda Kotb to promote the latest season of True Detective and said she loves her age.

Cottbu recalled an earlier interview with Foster in which she said that her 50s were a little tough, but that she loved turning 60, and asked the actress to elaborate.

"I don't want to take credit for it, but I think some sort of hormone or something was injected into my system," she said.

She added: "I don't know. 'I don't know, but all of a sudden nothing mattered, everything was a bonus, I was just happy and content, and I wasn't competing with my old self anymore. I didn't have any expectations of what was going on, and I was ready for what was going to happen."

This was the same feeling she expressed in a November interview with Interview magazine.

As for feeling inner peace, Foster said at the time, "I think it's an age thing. (Astrology girls, someone please tell Jodie Foster about the Saturn Return...)

"And 60," she continued, "was the best shift for me, as I was struggling in my 50s."

"I was like, 'Will I ever do anything meaningful again?' and 'Is this all there is?'"

She added, "When I turned 60, something happened. I thought, 'This is it. I thought, 'This is it. I think I was able to go back to work with a different attitude. I really enjoyed supporting other people, and I said to myself, 'This is not my time. I had my time. This is their time, and I can be a part of it by giving them whatever wisdom I have.'

Well, that certainly sounds peaceful.
