Olivia Rodrigo's Girls' Night Out Look is a Master Class in Preppy Fashion
Olivia Rodrigo always understands her mission On Friday, January 19, singer Olivia Rodrigo and her best friend and fellow entertainer, Tate McRae, watched the Los Angeles Lakers play the Brooklyn Nets for a girls' night out. They enjoyed a girls' night out. In true Rodrigo fashion, the "bad idea right?" singer rocked her signature preppy look with a simple black vest over a plain white T-shirt. She paired the chic ensemble with a short black mini skirt, white ankle socks, and large black lace-up loafers. For a feminine touch, Rodrigo wore small gemstone earrings, a quartz bead bracelet, a few dainty silver rings, and a small black purse. To complete her '90s preppy vibe, Rodrigo stuck to minimal makeup: her signature black winged eyeliner and soft red lips.
Known for her throwback fashion sense, Rodrigo often wears fashion items from the 90s and early 00s; her performance on Saturday Night Live in December 2023 inspired Rodrigo to wear a fuzzy, Y2K-like green crop top and low-rise pants.
She paired the end-of-the-world inspired top with black suede closed-toe platform stiletto pumps and a sleek patent leather shoulder bag. And at the 2022 Grammy Awards, Rodrigo surprised Rodrigo with a breathtaking black and pink punk-inspired gown by Vivienne Westwood and a 90s meets Gen Z look featuring the ultimate nod to the 90s: a black and pink sparkly choker. 5]
In a British edition of " In an interview with Vogue magazine, Rodrigo said that he "mainly likes to buy vintage."
He also said, "I like to buy vintage.
"I love shopping at Depop and The Real Real," she told the magazine at the time. I go for quality, and I like things that are funky and weird." Sustainability also plays a large role in Rodrigo's fashion choices; in an interview with Schön! magazine, she revealed
that she was introduced to the concept of sustainable fashion after watching the documentary "The True Cost" on Netflix.
"If you haven't seen it yet, you should definitely check it out," she told the magazine at the time.
"At the time, I first started thinking about how my personal actions impacted the environment, and in a way it's frightening to realize at age 14 that my generation is approaching a tipping point of irreversible damage to the planet."
Rodrigo continued that until he watched the documentary, "my favorite thing to do was to go to the mall, buy clothes that were too cheap, and wear that item once."
"I realized that if I really cared about the planet, I could not continue that habit," she continued.
"The fashion industry is also notorious for taking advantage of women and children in the least developed countries. So I've spent the last few years trying to make my clothing consumption as sustainable as possible," she continued. We love the fashion of the 90s and support our environmentally conscious queen.
