If you missed "The Crown": ...... A new royal show is coming soon, this time about the Danish royal family!

The British royal family is not the only royal family with drama: following the conclusion of Netflix's "The Crown" last month, a new royal show will now be based on the Danish royal family.

Such an announcement comes at an appropriate time, since the world's last living royal family is about to be replaced by a new one.

The timing of such an announcement is appropriate, since Queen Margrethe, the world's last reigning queen, abdicated her throne last week after 52 years on the throne. Her abdication follows rumors of a scandal involving her eldest son and heir, now King Frederik, who made headlines in 2022 when Mulgrethe unexpectedly stripped her second son, Prince Joachim, of his children's titles. Yes, there are enough elements to re-create a Danish version of The Crown.

The Netflix series aired from 2016 until the end of 2023 and centered on the life of Queen Elizabeth; Deadline reports that Mulgrethe's life will be brought to the screen in the TV show Af Guds nåde (translation: By the Grace of God), which The show is being developed by the producers of the hit Danish political drama Borgen. The story follows Margrethe's life from her birth in 1940 and takes place at the Amalienborg Palace in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.

The Guardian further reports that the show's producers will "tell the story from the perspective of members of the royal family and palace staff. The show has been in development for the past 18 months and is slated for release in 2025. Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen, the show's executive producer, said of Margrethe (the longest reigning monarch in Danish history until her sudden abdication at age 83), "She was part of all Danish history. The little princess was never meant to be queen, but times have changed and she has become a great queen. Now is the time to tell an epic story that will give us unprecedented insight."

There is no news yet on how the show will be distributed internationally, but Netflix's We Miss The Crown has already aired. Just saying.
